Brandy Norwood leads horror film The Front Room, releasing this September
Many people know Brandy Norwood for being a Grammy Award-winning musician, while others might also know her from her acting career, specifically her starring role as Moesha Mitchell in the television sitcom Moesha. She has starred in many other projects over her acting career, but one of the roles she's best known for was her role as Karla Wilson in the '90s slasher I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.
After seeing her in that film, people wanted to see her take on more roles in horror movies. Well, it's finally happening. Brandy is set to star in a new horror flick from A24 titled The Front Room, and we're so excited to share everything we know so far about it.
We first learned about this movie back in August 2022 when it was reported that A24 would be joining forces with talented filmmakers and brothers Max and Sam Eggers on their feature directorial debut. That movie being The Front Room.
It's described as a psychological horror film based on Susan Hill’s 2016 short story of the same name. The Eggers Brothers directed the movie from their own screenplay, with A24 producing, financing, and handling the global distribution of the film. In addition, Lucan Toh, Babak Anvari, and Bryan Sonderman of Two & Two Pictures had signed on to produce alongside A24, as well as Julia Oh and David Hinojosa of 2AM.
When a woman is forced to take in her mother-in-law at her and her husband's home, the mother-in-law quickly proves to be the house guest from hell. That's what The Front Room is about, and it's set to be released in theaters on Sept. 6, 2024.
Besides the casting of Brandy, actors such as Kathryn Hunter (Poor Things), Andrew Burnap (Snow White), and Neal Huff (Waves) star in the movie. Unfortunately, who they will be playing in the film is unknown, but we do know that Brandy leads the ensemble cast. Our guess is that Brandy plays the woman who is forced to take in her mother-in-law, and either Burnap or Huff stars as the woman's husband. Hunter probably plays the mother-in-law. Once we have the official character descriptions, we'll be sure to share them right away.
That's all we know about The Front Room for now. The official trailer will most likely drop closer to the release date, so you can look forward to that. We'll be sharing it as soon as it's released.
