Dev Patel's Monkey Man set for June 2024 release on Peacock

Get ready to jump for joy. The action thriller flick Monkey Man is set to make its streaming release on Peacock this June! We shared the official Peacock release date and more below.

Academy Award-nominated actor and filmmaker Dev Patel is behind this incredible film. You might recognize Patel from his previous roles in the teen drama series Skins, the drama film Slumdog Millionaire, the comedy-drama The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, the political drama series The Newsroom, the biographical drama film Lion and the fantasy adventure movie The Green Knight.

He co-wrote the screenplay for Monkey Man with Paul Angunawela and John Collee. He also produced and made his directorial debut with this film. In the action thriller, Patel stars as Kid, a young man on a quest for vengeance against the men who took everything from him as a boy and killed his mother. He also fights against his city's oppressive and corrupt government, who systematically victimize the underprivileged.

Joining Patel in the cast are Sharlto Copley, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Sikandar Kher, Adithi Kalkunte, Zakir Hussain, Sobhita Dhulipala, Makarand Deshpande, and Ashwini Kalsekar. The film had its world premiere at South by Southwest back in March 2024 and received critical acclaim. It was then released in theaters by Universal Pictures in April 2024 and managed to gross $34 million worldwide against a $10 million budget.

As of June 4, you can rent or purchase the 2-hour and 2-minute R-rated film on digital platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play, Vudu, or Apple TV. Then, on Friday, June 14, 2024, the action thriller will finally be released on Peacock. But keep in mind that in order to gain access to the movie on Peacock, you'll need to have a subscription to the streamer.

Peacock offers four subscription plans: Premium Monthly ($5.99/mo), Premium Annual ($59.99/year), Premium Plus Monthly ($11.99/mo), and Premium Plus Annual ($119.99/year). Luckily, it doesn't matter what subscription plan you subscribe to because all of them will grant you access to the film when it becomes available on Peacock on June 14.

According to Variety, the film will also get 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD versions on June 25. It was reported that these physical releases will feature an alternate opening, alternate ending, and a handful of deleted or extended scenes. I don't know about you, but this sounds like something I'd want to buy.
