It looks like we have a crossover of sorts. Former Disney star Dove Cameron (Liv and Maddie) and former Nickelodeon star Avan Jogia (Victorious) are set to star together in an upcoming thriller series titled Obsession. More on this below.

We first learned of this show back in December 2023 when Amazon Prime Video announced that it had ordered Obsession to series. It was also revealed at the time that Lisa Zwerling and Karyn Usher would be writing the scripts as well as executive producing, and Amazon MGM Studios and Atomic Monster would be producing. Additional executive producers of the series include James Wan, Michael Clear, Rob Hackett, and Sandrine Gros d’Aillon, with Catherine Ryan Howard serving as co-executive producer. Alethea Jones will be directing the first two episodes. However, it's unclear at the moment how many episodes will be in the series.

Based on Howard's 2021 international bestselling novel 56 Days, the show is described as both a crime story and an erotic, psychological thriller. It follows Oliver and Ciara, who fall in love fast after meeting randomly in a supermarket and quickly move in together. 56 days later, homicide investigators arrive at Oliver’s apartment to find an unidentified, decomposing body inside. This leaves the investigators with so many questions. Who is the victim? Did Oliver kill Ciara, or did Ciara kill Oliver? Jogia stars as Oliver while Cameron plays the role of Ciara. No other actors have been cast yet.

According to an Amazon press release, one change from the book to the series is that the show won't be set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic like the novel was. So that should be interesting. It's unknown when the cameras will start rolling and when it will come out, but what we do know is that it will be released exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. Unfortunately, that's all we know about Obsession for now. As we learn more information about the thriller series, we'll be sure to return to this space and share what we found. So, stay tuned to 1428 Elm!
