Everyone's a suspect in new trailer for Netflix murder mystery A Good Girl's Guide To Murder
By Mads Lennon
We're a little over a month away from the Netflix premiere of the teen murder mystery series A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, and a new trailer teases a reopened case in which everyone is a suspect. Intrepid teen detective Pippa "Pip" Fitz-Amobi (played by Wednesday star Emma Myers) has one last chance to uncover the truth.
Based on the best-selling trilogy (and one novella) by Holly Jackson, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is set in a small town plagued by the murder of schoolgirl Andie Bell five years prior to the start of the series. Bell's boyfriend, Sal Singh, was arrested, and the case closed.
Most of the town's residents, including the police, believe Sal did it. Except Pip. She's determined to prove Sal's innocence with assistance from his younger brother, Ravi, one of the only other people in town who believes Sal was wrongfully accused. But if it's true that Sal is innocent, that means Andie's real killer is still out there, roaming free. How far will they go to keep Pip from finding out the truth?
The trailer features the song "Seize the Power" by Yonaka and includes clips showing Pip questioning suspects, running from someone through the woods, and working alongside Ravi to find out what really happened to Andie.
One clip shows Pip and her friends playing a version of the Pencil Game (or the Charlie Charlie challenge, as it's sometimes known), a divination game supposedly allowing players to channel spirits to provide answers to yes-no questions.
All six episodes of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 1 premiere on August 1 in the United States, exclusively on Netflix. Set a reminder to get notified when the series goes live by adding it to your Netflix watchlist here.
Those living in the UK/Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand will get to watch the series a month earlier, as it will first premiere on the BBC iPlayer (Stan in Australia and ThreeNow in New Zealand) on July 1, followed by a BBC Three debut soon after.
Even though the first season only covers the first book in the series, executive producer Frith Tiplady has stressed that the finale has "a real end." However, they hope the show will get additional seasons to adapt the rest of the series.
