All six episodes of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 1 have finally dropped on Netflix, and we've been hearing many positive things about the new mystery thriller series. We watched the first season in its entirety, and we can definitely see why many people are calling it a solid show.

With six episodes running for about 45 minutes each, it doesn't take long at all to finish the first season. Naturally, you'll be left wondering about a potential A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 2 after finishing all the episodes. But is a second season even happening? Well, not as of Aug. 1. Netflix nor the show's creative team have come out and announced that the show has been renewed.

However, this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, seeing as though the first season was just released on the streaming platform. It’s not often that Netflix renews a new show so soon after its first season drops. We'll likely be waiting a while before we hear any news of the show's fate.

While there are many factors that play a part in a Netflix show's renewal, high viewership will greatly help its renewal chances. This means that the more people that watch the first season, the better the chances are of the show being renewed for a second season.

Luckily, we don't have to worry about there not being more story to tell since there are two more novels in Holly Jackson's A Good Girl's Guide to Murder book series that can be adapted for screen. Those books are Good Girl, Bad Blood and As Good as Dead, which both follow Pip as she solves new mysteries in her small English town. The first season is based on the first book, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder.

A potential second season could be based on the second book, Good Girl, Bad Blood. If the second season fares well, then a potential third season could be based on the third and final book, As Good as Dead. There's also the prequel novella Kill Joy that could be adapted. Or, the show could choose to depart from the source material and come up with original material for future seasons. But I guess none of this really matters until we get that official renewal.

Jackson spoke with Variety prior to the show's release on Netflix and had this to say when asked about a potential A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 2.

"I don’t know yet and then I don’t know that when I know how long I’ll have to keep it secret for before it’s publicly announced. But I hope the gap between me finding out and everyone else being able to find out is not too big because I hate keeping secrets!"

So it looks like Jackson hasn't received word yet on a second season, either. The show's leading stars Emma Myers and Zain Iqbal are interested in coming back, though. During a game of "Most Likely To" with Cosmopolitan UK, Myers and Iqbal stated that they'd love to return for additional seasons if given the chance to. However, they stressed the importance of people watching the first season to make it happen. You can check out the video below. They talk about this topic at the 6:42 mark.
