AMC's extended Anne Rice television universe is about to grow in size. 1428 Elm previously reported that the network had ordered a third series to complement its current shows, Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches. The third show is a little different in that it's not entirely based on an established book series but on a concept Rice introduced in her previous books.

The Talamasca was officially introduced into the AMC Anne Rice canon during the first season of Mayfair Witches, and now it's being expanded into a full-length series. The Hollywood Reporter recently shared that casting had gotten underway for the show, with Australian actor Nicholas Denton landing the lead role. Denton is best known for starring in the Starz miniseries Dangerous Liaisons and the supernatural drama Glitch.

According to the outlet, Denton will play the lead character, Guy Anatole, who is described as "brilliant, handsome and sharp on the surface, but he’s always known his mind works a little differently.”

Guy is about to graduate from law school when he gets approached by someone from the secret society, which is responsible for keeping tabs on the various supernatural creatures inhabiting the world and ensuring they don't get out of hand. The Talamasca has been tracking Guy since he was a kid and soon he discovers the truth behind the delicate balance between this society and the immortal beings cloaked in secrecy.

"For Guy to survive, he will have to learn to embrace the dark, treacherous depths of his true and singular self."

Mayfair Witches season 1 introduced Tongayi Chirisa as Ciprien Grieve, an empath and Talamasca agent who reaches out to Rowan Fielding (Alexandra Daddario) to help her understand her latent powers as a Mayfair witch. Ciprien played a significant role in the show's first season, as did the Talamasca as a whole. So it'll be interesting if that connects to this new series and maybe even Mayfair Witches season 2, by extension.

The Talamasca will reportedly start with a six-episode first season that begins filming in Manchester, England sometime in October. It is currently slated for a 2025 premiere date and Mayfair Witches season 2 will also return in early 2025.

No date yet for the third season of Interview with the Vampire, though we do know it will follow the events of The Vampire Lestat, the third novel in Rice's Vampire Chronicles series.

Stay tuned to 1428 Elm for more details regarding The Talamasca and AMC's Anne Rice Universe as they become available.
