It's generally agreed upon that taking drugs is bad, but there's room for debate. However, one thing that isn't up for debate is partaking in totally unknown substances. If a dealer says, "Hey, I just sell the stuff. I don't cook it up," you should probably run and never look back. Enter Romain, a teenager at the center of the upcoming French horror film MadS who... does not follow that sound advice. Instead, he partakes in this illicit and mysterious drug right before a wild night of partying, and things quickly spiral out of control.

Coming to Shudder on October 18, MadS promises to be a no-holds-barred thrill ride, shot in one continuous take by writer/director David Moreau (Them). Watch the trailer below.

Eighteen-year-old Romain has just graduated and wants to partake in a night of debauchery to celebrate his newfound adulthood. Not long after taking the drug, Romain hops in his car to head toward a party and sees an injured woman on the side of the road.

Romain offers her a ride, and not long after the strange woman gets in his car, she suddenly goes ballistic and bashes her head into the windshield, resulting in a fatal injury. Now Romain is tasked with handling her dead body. Is this all part of a bad trip? Or is something even weirder going on? Things only get more surreal from there.

Fans of New French Extremity movies like the modern hits Raw and Climax need to keep MadS on their radar as it looks like it will fit right into the mix.

Beyond the plot details above, the trailer hints at the drug breaching "containment," and some critical reviews have labeled the film "outbreak horror," seemingly indicating that the "drug" is actually some kind of experiment, hence the disastrous results.

There's also a suitably terrifying poster to go with the trailer.
