Family-friendly Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort officially begins today
By Mads Lennon
One of Disneyland in Anaheim's most beloved park traditions is returning early this year! Halloween Time officially kicks off on Friday, August 23, and will run through October 31 with festive decor, delicious treats, cute autumnal merch, and events taking over the resort.
Halloween Time is one of Disneyland Resort's most beloved pastimes and the Halloween-themed attractions are back this year, including new outfits for Mickey Mouse and co. at his "Mickey's Trick and Treat" show at the Disney California Adventure Park. For the first time ever, the show will be offered during the daytime at the Disney Theater.
What can you expect from the Halloween Time entertainment at Disneyland Park?
The Main Street Pumpkin Festival is back and will include the trademark Mickey Mouse Pumpkin at its center.
Elsewhere in the park, fans can visit the Haunted Mansion Holiday attraction, inspired by the iconic film The Nightmare Before Christmas, which includes a gingerbread house with a giant gingerbread zombie created by the mad scientist Dr. Finkelstein. You'll see plenty of other fan-favorite denizens of Halloween Town around, like Oogie Boogie, Jack Skellington, and Sally!
Come nightfall, Disneyland Park ushers in its spectacular projects of Disney Villains in front of the Sleeping Beauty Castle as part of the Halloween Screams entertainment, culminating in a dazzling fireworks display.
For a limited time, guests can also partake in the Happiest Haunts guided tour that stops by the Haunted Mansion for a special photo op and offers reserved viewing for the Halloween Screams spectacle.
Disney California Adventure Park will be completely decked out in Halloween decor with Radiator Springs transforming and the Headless Horseman statue taking its place on Buena Vista Street. Additional attractions that will receive seasonal transformations include Mater's Graveyard JamBOOree, Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark, and Luigi's Honkin' Haul-O-Ween.
Additional attractions include the separate-ticket event Halloween Party known as the Oogie Boogie Bash and the return of Plaza de la Familia in Paradise Gardens to honor Día de las Muertos, complete with a limited Mexican cuisine-inspired menu.
The Plaza de la Familia event runs through November 2. Note that the plaza's show, "The Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia Celebrate The Musical World of Coco!,” doesn't open until August 30.
There's lots more fun to be had at the Disneyland Resort and its parks, I recommend visiting the official Halloween Time website to get more in-depth information on the various attractions as well as the opportunity to purchase park tickets.
