After 30 years of waiting, fans finally have their first look at the Beetlejuice sequel! Warner Bros. traveled to the Netherworld and came back with a teaser trailer as well as two stills from Tim Burton's upcoming sequel to the 1988 classic.
The teaser for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice sets the film up nicely with an obvious return to the setting of the first film for a funeral attended by Winona Ryder's Lydia, her daughter Astrid (Jenna Ortega) and Catherine O'Hara as Delia. But what happens when the Deetz' find themselves back within Beetlejuice's sphere of influence? We'll all find out when the movie opens on Sept. 6.
The images feature Michael Keaton as the title character, still hanging out in the attic with the town model lovingly built by Alec Baldwin's Adam Maitland before his untimely death. The Ghost With The Most looks about the same, maybe just a bit worse for the wear after being eaten by a sandworm and dealing with that head-shrinking incident. The second image shows off O'Hara, Ortega and Ryder as well as newcomer Justin Theroux as Rory.
For many fans of Burton's work, his teaming with Ortega on Wednesday marked a return to form, reminding many of his beloved films. So, when the actress joined the cast for the long-gestating Beetlejuice sequel, interest went through the roof, much like the Deetz' dinner guests. In addition to the returning Keaton, O'Hara and Ryder, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice will also feature Theroux, Willem Dafoe, Burn Gorman and Monica Bellucci.
