Travis Kelce fans are about to see a whole new side of the athlete this fall when Ryan Murphy's 10-episode horror drama series Grotesquerie premieres on Wednesday, September 25, reports Deadline.
Led by Emmy-winning actress Niecy Nash-Betts (Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story), Grotesquerie "revolves around a series of heinous crimes that have unsettled a small community."
Nash-Betts plays Detective Lois Tryon, who believes the nature of these strange crimes share an eerie personal connection to her. Seeking assistance, Lois turns to Sister Megan (Micaela Diamond), a nun with her own secrets who still believes there is good in the world, while Lois fears the worst for humanity.
Per Deadline, "As Lois and Sister Megan string together clues, they find themselves ensnared in a sinister web that only seems to raise more questions than answers."
Nash-Betts and Diamond are joined by a stacked cast that includes Courtney B. Vance, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Lesley Manville, Raven Goodwin, and, of course, Travis Kelce. The tight end for the NFL team, the Kansas City Chiefs, has become significantly more famous over the past year due to his high-profile relationship with superstar Taylor Swift.
Grotesquerie marks Kelce's first significant acting role, though details about his character are being kept under wraps.
American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy executive produces the show which he also directs alongside Alexis Martin Woodall, Elegance Bratton, and Max Winkler. Murphy wrote and created Grotesquerie with Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken.
Besides Grotesquerie, Murphy's Netflix series Monster will also return sometime this fall or winter with its second season, set to focus on Lyle and Erik Menéndez. A thirteenth season of American Horror Story is also in the works.
The series premieres on September 25 at 10 p.m. ET/PT and then episodes will be available the following day on Hulu. International fans will get to watch the show via Disney+ at a later date.
