If you're a fan of Gabrielle Union, you'll be glad to know that this talented actress has just set her next project. It's a horror film titled The Casket Girls, and she will not only star but also produce.

QC Entertainment is the production company behind the movie. This company is best known for co-producing the hit psychological horror film Get Out. Justin Dyck, who you might recognize as the director of the 2020 supernatural horror flick Anything for Jackson, is signed on to direct. In addition, Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant wrote the film's original script, which Dyck and Keith Cooper later revised.

The Casket Girls is inspired by a true story. It's inspired by the true story of a group of women who were sent from France to New Orleans to marry colonists in the early 1700s. They were called the "Casket Girls" because they brought with them on their travels small trunks or caskets to carry their belongings.

Shortly after the girls arrived in New Orleans, the city saw a significant uptick in its homicide rate, with many of the murders involving men being drained of their blood. Since the homicide rate increased once the girls arrived, the locals believed that they had something to do with the murders, even believing that they were demons or vampires. So, to protect themselves, they locked the girls up in the attic of the Vatican-controlled Ursuline Convent.

In the horror film, which takes place in modern times, Union will play Detective Shay Williams. Shay and her partner will find themselves trapped in the Ursuline Convent along with a group of tourists when the Casket Girls find a way to escape from the attic for the first time in over three centuries.

Union hasn't starred in many horror projects in her acting career. In fact, she's only starred in one other horror project, which was the horror series Night Stalker. We're not worried, though. She's a great actress, so we're sure she'll knock her role out of the park. Union is the only actor who has been cast in this movie so far.

QC Entertainment’s Sean McKittrick and Raymond Mansfield are producing the film, with Union and QC’s Edward H. Hamm Jr. executive producing. Additionally, Jameson Parker will executive produce for Lighthouse Pictures. The cameras are slated to start rolling on the film in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada on Oct. 15. However, it's unknown at the moment when filming will wrap.
