We love a good psychological thriller here at 1428 Elm, and it looks like we might have a new one to add to our watchlist soon. It's called Blackwater Lane, and after watching the gripping official trailer, we absolutely must see it! It's set to be released in select theaters on June 21, 2024, as well as on digital and on demand.

We first learned of this film back in October 2022 when it was reported that well-known actors Minka Kelly, Dermot Mulroney, and Maggie Grace were set to star in a new psychological thriller titled Blackwater Lane. Like many other movies nowadays, it's based on another piece of work. It's based on the 2017 thriller novel The Breakdown by New York Times bestselling author B.A. Paris. If you would like to purchase the book, you can do so through Amazon as a paperback, hardcover, or eBook.

Jeff Celentano, who is best known for directing the biographical sports drama film The Hill, helms the thriller from a screenplay written by Megan Stewart. Kelly stars as a woman named Cass, who becomes increasingly disturbed after witnessing a tragedy on a winding rural road. Shortly after, a supernatural entity begins terrorizing her, causing her to question her own sanity. Mulroney and Grace play Cass's concerned husband and best friend, Matthew and Rachel.

Here's the movie's official synopsis via People:

"After witnessing a tragedy on a dangerous country road, Cass is visited by a ghostly presence and begins to question her sanity. As these otherworldly experiences intensify, Cass is driven closer to the brink until she begins to assemble the pieces of a horrific plot against her."

Producers on the film include Elizabeth Fowler, Warren Ostergard, and Lucinda Thakrar, while executive producers include Greg Schenz, Tannaz Anisi, and Oleg Shardin. In addition, Alex Lane is signed on to the movie as a co-producer.

Take a look at the official trailer below and then tell me you're not spooked by it.

Talk about creepy! I wouldn't want to be placed in the same situation as Kelly's character in the film. Experiencing strange paranormal events is a big no-no for me. It appears the disturbing events are stemming from the house, so hopefully, Cass gets out of the house of horrors before it's too late.

Be sure to check out Blackwater Lane, releasing in select theaters, on digital, and on demand on June 21.
