Gore movies are a subgenre of horror movies that are intended for audiences who can handle intense and explicit content. Due to their emphasis on graphic and explicit depictions of violence, bloodshed, and bodily harm, they're not typically for the faint of heart. These types of films will make you squirm in your seat, and they often stick with you long after you watch them.

Netflix carries many films like this on its platform. In fact, we shared a list below of seven gory horror movies currently streaming on Netflix.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)

While this sequel seriously fell short of my expectations and didn't wow me at all, I will say that it's a pretty gory slasher. But I mean that's what the Texas Chainsaw Massacre horror franchise is known for, so I shouldn't really be surprised.

It serves as the ninth installment in the film series and takes place 50 years after the 1974 horror cult classic. The story centers around a group of influencers who find themselves fighting for their lives when they encounter the infamous deranged serial killer Leatherface after disrupting his sheltered world in a remote Texas town.

I'm not going to spoil much about this movie, but there's one particular scene that's super intense and gory. It involves Leatherface going on a bloody rampage on a bus full of partygoers. I remember cringing several times throughout this scene because of how gory it was.

Thanksgiving (2023)

Thanksgiving centers around the residents of a small Massachusetts town who become terrorized by a mysterious masked killer one year after a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy. This film doesn't shy away from gore at all. But I guess that's expected since most horror movies revolving around a killer murdering people one by one will involve a lot of blood and graphic violence.

There's a scene at the beginning of the film that really stuck with me, and it involves a woman's body being cut in half by a dumpster. You're probably wondering how that could happen. You have to watch the movie to find out, but it's a pretty disturbing scene. So much blood poured out from her body, and her intestines were shown dangling from the dumpster.

The Babysitter (2017)

The Babysitter might be a horror-comedy, but there are some brutal kills involving a lot of blood in this movie. There's one scene where a woman sticks two knives into a man's head and copious amounts of blood trickles down. Then, there's another scene where a woman slits a man's throat with a sharp knife and blood splatters everywhere. Be prepared to squirm in your seat many times while watching this film.

The plot revolves around a young boy who finds himself in a fight for survival after he discovers that his seemingly perfect babysitter is part of a demonic cult that wants to use him next in their satanic ritual.

Jigsaw (2017)

Jigsaw being a gory horror film isn't surprising one bit, seeing as though it's part of the Saw film series. Each movie in the film series, besides the first movie, is known for its graphic violence and gore.

Like other Saw movies, Jigsaw sees a group of people forced to participate in a series of deadly games designed to test their will to survive. These games result in brutal injuries and bloody deaths. One gory scene that I can remember involves a laser slicing through a man's neck. Blood instantly starts spurting out, and the man falls to the ground.

Fear Street Part Two: 1978 (2021)

Fear Street Part Two: 1978 is my favorite film in the Fear Street trilogy. Maybe it's because I'm a sucker for horror flicks set in summer camps, but this movie right here was very entertaining to watch and pretty gory if you ask me.

There's one particular scene in the film that stuck with me and many other fans, and it's the scene showing two sisters being brutally attacked by two masked killers. It's a very gory scene, but also emotional at the same time because you want both sisters to make it, but you know that one of them or both will die.

Set in 1978, the story centers around a bunch of teenagers at summer camp who find themselves in a gruesome fight for survival when an axe-wielding murderer goes on a killing spree.

Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight (2020)

In Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight, there are two killers lurking in the woods surrounding a rehabilitation camp where a bunch of tech-dependent teenagers are undergoing a digital detox. After encountering the killers, the teens must use their wits and strength to find a way to escape the woods before it's too late.

There are many gory scenes in this movie, but only two I can recall at the moment. One shows a woman's bloody decapitated head rolling on the floor, while the other shows the killer sticking a metal pole through the back of a woman's head, ultimately killing her. This scene was so disturbing to watch because the pole went through her mouth, and all you see is blood pouring out.

The Conference (2023)

The Conference revolves around a bloodthirsty masked killer hunting down a group of public sector employees at a team-building retreat in the woods. One of the most goriest scenes in this Swedish slasher is when the killer brutally murders a man in a hot tub. The killer uses an outboard motor to repeatedly slice the man until he's dead, leaving the entire hot tub filled with blood.

One other scene that was quite disturbing was when a woman ripped a large piece of skin from the top of a man's head. As she's doing this, blood begins to spurt out. Talk about disgusting!
