Entering the third week of Halloween Baking Championship season 10, we get to see the remaining eight bakers compete in a lab designed for gooey specimen-stuffed desserts and mutating cuties into monstrosities.

For this week's thriller challenge, the bakers are divided into duos and tasked with concocting desserts inspired by different flavors of candy corn while also using decor inspired by specimens like toes, eyeballs, and tongues. Then, for the killer challenge, the contestants must pick a cute and cuddly creature like a bunny or dog to then mutate it into something terrifying.

Which bakers succeeded this week and who is the unlucky one that ended up getting sent home?

Thriller Challenge results

For the Thriller Challenge, the winning team ended up being Manny and Aaron, thanks to their tasty black berry cobbler mousse dome complete with a delightfully anatomically correct tongue. Because of this, Manny and Aaron both won the immunity potion this week, meaning they could not be eliminated during the killer challenge regardless of what they concocted.

Onto the killer challenge, which resulted in wins for Lillian and, once again, Aaron. The judges were impressed that Aaron opted not to play it safe despite having immunity and instead made a black pepper bacon cake with maple custard shaped like a pig. Lillian chose the sheep and created a chocolate cake with Irish cream mousse. Aaron did a great job, but ultimately, the judges felt that Lillian was the overall winner of this week's killer challenge and labeled her as "one to watch."

But as is always the case with the killer challenge, two bakers also found themselves in the bottom two. This time the bottom two consisted of Joel and JL, with the judges choosing to send JL home. His giraffe dessert became muddled by the second dessert, and there were criticisms of the loose curd in his tart. So, while Joel's story was also considered "visually confusing," it was JL the judges felt deserved the cryo chamber.

On his way out, JL says that while he didn't anticipate going home so early in the competition, he's still very proud of the experience. "I'm motivated, I'm inspired by all of these people. This experience has been amazing."

Next week's Halloween Baking Championship will see the seven remaining bakers tasked with re-animating some old classic recipes. Stream now on Max or Discovery+.
