The second week of Halloween Baking Championship season 10 is all about Beetlejuice. Well, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, to be exact. Oops, did I say that three times? Tonight's episode was a tie-in to the hit sequel currently playing in theaters nationwide and sees Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, and Michael Keaton return to reprise their iconic roles. Spoilers ahead for season 10 episode 2.

Unfortunately, as with each episode of this beloved Food Network show, one baker does get sent home at the end of this week's Killer Challenge. In tonight's episode, it's Carly who ends up getting sent to the cryo chamber. But keep reading to find out exactly why she got sent home, which baker won immunity during the Thriller Challenge, and what to expect next week!

Thriller Challenge: Black and white dessert

The first challenge of the night revolves around the trademark Betelgeuse color scheme: black and white. Not only did the bakers have to create black-and-white desserts, but they also had to use opposing flavors.

  • Winner: Joel wins this challenge and receives immunity this week thanks to a dessert featuring a clean, "delightfully breakfasty" concoction expertly blending the contrasting flavors of prunes and cream cheese. Stephanie even gave him a rare 10 out of 10!

Killer Challenge: XL desserts topped with shrunken treats

To honor the franchise's fan-favorite Shrinkers, the bakers were tasked with creating unique desserts featuring a big one on the bottom and a smaller dessert on top.

  • Winner: Thierry's gorgeous dessert of a little cat with a big mouse perfectly exemplified what the judges were after. He created a big sweet potato cake pop complete with a blown sugar cake stem and then set a small citrus pavlova on top. The judges were impressed with the creamy, smooth orange curd and the crunchy meringue.
  • Runner-up: Manny

But as we know, the Killer Challenge ends with an elimination. The bottom two came down between Carly and Hollie for different reasons.

Carly crafted a big chocolate raspberry cupcake with raspberry mousse and then added a shrunken chocolate raspberry silk pie on top. But sadly, her pie filling didn't set up, and the cupcake was too dense. Hollie's big maple walnut blondie was too cakey, and her small peach cobbler skillet was endearing but lacked enough peaches. Carly was sent home this week.

In her goodbye, Carly says she's very proud of herself for making it as far as she did. "Just being here has opened up a whole new world for me," the baker says on her way to the chamber.

Next week, our eight remaining bakers must make desserts featuring a cute animal that turns into a mutated monster!
