Are you ready for another exciting season of Halloween Wars? For season 14, the long-running festive baking show has a twist. Eight teams will compete, and each team features a captain in the form of a former Halloween Wars champ. Jonathan Bennett returns to host alongside judges Aarti Sequeira and Shinmin Li. The teams will compete for the championship title and a prize of $25,000.

Halloween Wars season 14 premiered on Sunday, September 22, with the first two episodes serving as "qualifying rounds." Four teams competed in the first episode and the other four in the second. By the end of the night, two teams were eliminated, leaving six behind for the remainder of the season.

Meet the contestants competing on this season of Halloween Wars: All Stars

This season, each of the eight different teams is led by a Halloween Wars "All-Star," meaning someone who has won a previous season of the show. A few of the captains have even won the same season, meaning they competed on the same team before!

Which teams won and which teams were elimianted in the premier?

The first episode featured an intriguing challenge that saw the four teams creating an iconic monster in a specific historical period. Stop here if you don't want to be spoiled on what happened.

  • Winner: Shriek Squad, led by captain Kristina Patenaude, won the first official challenge of season 14 thanks to their detailed creation of a medieval knight slaying a siren.
  • Eliminated: Sadly, Team Creepin' It Real was sent home because the flavors of their trifle clashed with their creation.

In episode 2, the next four teams were assigned a complicated challenge involving turning a mild-mannered person into a monster at the worst possible moment. They also had to use two opposing flavors in their sweet treat.

  • Winner: 2 Ghouls and a Butcher won the challenge with their teen werewolf in mid-transformation and the fact they made their treat work with the flavors onion and chocolate.
  • Eliminated: The Bone Battalion team was sent home because they didn't fully follow the challenge. While their creation of a woman turning into a sea creature in the bath looked great, it didn't include the "mid-transformation" vibe the judges were looking for.

New episodes of Halloween Wars season 14 air on Food Network on Sunday nights at 9/8c. Episodes are also available to stream on Max and Discovery+.
