Here's your first behind-the-scenes look at Wednesday season 2
The cast and crew are hard at work filming the highly anticipated Wednesday season 2 in Ireland, and we're patiently waiting for the filmmaking process to finish up so that we can see some of our favorite characters back on our screens. While we won't be seeing the second installment on Netflix until sometime in 2025, the streaming giant knows just what to do to keep us entertained in the meantime.
During Geeked Week 2024, Netflix dropped the first behind-the-scenes look at the second season. In the short 58-second clip below, you can see some of the sets, the cast, and director Tim Burton directing scenes for the new season. Some of the cast members included in the behind-the-scenes look are Jenna Ortega (Wednesday Addams), Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams), and Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay).
According to Zeta-Jones, Wednesday season 2 is going to be "bigger" and "more twisted" than we could ever imagine. After an amazing first season, there's no doubt in our minds that the second installment will be even better, especially with the new cast additions.
Besides the cast members listed above, the rest of the returning cast includes Moosa Mostafa (Eugene), Georgie Farmer (Ajax), Victor Dorobantu (Thing), Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Deputy Ritchie Santiago), Jamie McShane (Sheriff Donovan Galpin), and Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester).
Joining the cast this season are Steve Buscemi (Barry Dort), Billie Piper (Capri), Thandiwe Newton (Dr. Fairburn), Joanna Lumley (Grandmama), Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, Noah Taylor, Christopher Lloyd, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, and Joonas Suotamo.
Plot details are still being kept under wraps for season 2, but we can definitely expect to see Wednesday solve more supernatural mysteries after she returns to Nevermore Academy. If you recall at the end of season 1, we find out that Wednesday has a stalker. Who could it be? We also saw Tyler escape out of police custody in the season 1 finale. That can't be good! There's so much to be explored in Wednesday season 2, and we can't wait to see it when it comes out.
Production is rumored to wrap up in November 2024. The new episodes will then enter post-production, where they will spend a reasonable amount of time being edited to perfection. Netflix has already confirmed that the new season will be released in 2025. We just need that exact date.
Our best release prediction for now would be sometime in the spring or summer of 2025. However, there's a chance we might not see it until the fall, seeing as though the first season dropped in the fall. Once the official release date is announced, we'll be sure to let you know right away. But for now, this is all we know about Wednesday season 2.
