Marvel at the Poohniverse line-up!
By TJ Dietsch
The Twisted Childhood Universe -- that's right, the TCU -- plans on bringing together the most beloved characters from your youth and splatter them with blood! Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios, the makers of last year's Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey and the upcoming sequel, have an entire slate of films that will revolve around Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, set to debut in 2025.
In addition to the two films starring the pants-averse, honey-loving bear, the filmakers have an entire slate planned that includes Bambi: The Reckoning, Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare and Pinocchio Unstrung which will then lead right into the team-up film and it's familiar font.
In the initial press release, Jagged Edge Productions producer and Poohniverse director Rhys Frake-Waterfield said, "It will be complete carnage. We are heavily influenced by Freddy Vs Jason and The Avengers. We would love to see a horror movie where the villains group together and are going after their survivors. We have some incredible set pieces in mind and some sequences I think will truly shock people. The movies we are working on now as stand alones are all building towards Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble."
The film will feature Scott Chambers as Christopher Robin, Megan Plactio as Wendy Darling, Lewis Santer as Tigger Roxanne Mckee as Xana, and plenty of other additions to come. Chambers is also a producer with Jagged Edge Productions who said, "Similar to The Avengers we will follow Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Owl, Piglet, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, Bambi, The Mad Hatter, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell joining forces to wreak havoc. We are working with a larger scale budget on this one and are excited for what the future will hold. When you see the stand alone movies you will see the easter eggs hinting toward the crossover. Some of the villains also will not see eye to eye which will allow for some carnage within the group in some epic sequence of monster vs monster."
Of course, before the Poohniverse can assemble they'll need to fill out some of the world in Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, helmed by Frake-Waterfield. In the first film, Christopher Robin (then played by Nikolai Leon) returned to the 100 Acre Woods to see if his old pals were still around. Unfortunately for him, they were, but they had gone a bit mad since he left them behind as a boy.
The sequel, which debuts on March 28, will expand the line-up as it stars the aforementioned Chambers as Christopher Robin and Santer as Tigger along with Ryan Oliva as Winnie the Pooh, Eddie MacKenzie as Piglet and Marcus Massey as Owl. Backed by more anarchic animals, Pooh and company will spread terror through the nearby town of Ashdown.
