Megan Fox reteams with Till Death director S.K. Dale for the new sci-fi thriller Subservience,  in which she plays an android who becomes sentient and increasingly hostile after being purchased by a single father (Michele Morrone).

Based on the official trailer for the movie, Subservience looks like your average erotic thriller film except with a science-fiction twist—the android component. Fox's character is a robot named Alice who immediately takes an interest in Nick (Morrone) and his daughter, seemingly trying to become like a mother figure in the house. She and Nick start a sexual relationship.

But things get complicated when Nick starts dating an actual human woman named Maggie, played by Madeline Zima, causing Alice to become jealous and threatened as she targets Maggie and anyone else who gets between her and Nick.

There also appears to be a subplot involving these androids gaining sentience on a larger scale and potentially trying to take over the world, but the bulk of the movie seems centered on Alice and Nick. Obviously, things eventually turn to violence as is often the case in these types of sci-fi films.

Subservience seems like it'll be similar to other android-focused horror movies like M3GAN and the upcoming Sony horror film AfrAId starring John Cho, which releases in theaters on August 30.

Besides Fox, Zima, and Morrone, Subservience also stars Matilda Firth (Disenchanted), Kate Nichols (Barbarian), and Andrew Whipp (Bodies).

Fox is no stranger to the horror genre as one of her most famous roles is for the cult classic horror-comedy film Jennifer's Body. She also had a brief role in the Netflix vampire thriller Night Teeth along with the thriller Till Death she worked on as mentioned above.

Morrone is best known for starring in the erotic drama film trilogy 365 Days based on the novels by Blanka Lipińska. In addition to this movie, Zima will also star in the Canadian horror film Love Is The Monster, which is being released by the same distributor, XYZ Films.

Subservience is set to release digitally on September 13.
