The bestselling young adult vampire book series Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz is set to be adapted into a television show. More on this upcoming series adaptation below.

The official title for the series hasn't been revealed yet, but it's currently going under the working title of Blue Bloods. Awesomeness, the production company behind the TV shows XO, Kitty and School Spirits, will be developing the vampire series, with Jacquie Walters (Just Add Magic, Big Shot) serving as writer and executive producer. Other executive producers include De la Cruz, Richard Abate and Katie Newman Krandel for 3 Arts Entertainment, and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein for The Gotham Group.

The story is set in New York City, where an elite class of immortal vampires is secretly in charge. We follow 17-year-old Sky, a half-human, half-vampire who struggles to find her place in the world after being exiled from the ancient group of vampires, Blue Bloods. She enrolls in the prestigious Duchesne Institute, where she faces many challenges as a newcomer. But her biggest challenge yet comes when she discovers that an ancient and evil breed of vampires has returned to wreak havoc in the city.

Neither a television network nor a streaming platform has signed on at the moment. However, there's a possibility that this show could stream on Paramount+ since Awesomeness is behind it, and Paramount owns Awesomeness. Once we learn where exactly this show will air/stream, we'll let you know right away.

Here's what De La Cruz had to say about getting her book series adapted into a TV show via Deadline:

"I am so excited to bring my beloved Blue Bloods series to life with a stellar team at Awesomeness, Gotham, 3Arts and our incredible writer Jacquie Walters who understands my story and characters deeply. Cannot wait to see them on screen at last!!! LFG!!!"
