The Bye Bye Man, The Empty Man, The Tall Man, Slenderman... next we have Bagman, a movie about a malevolent entity that snatches children and sticks them into his fateful bag, never to be seen again. Not to be confused with Baghead, a different film released earlier this year starring The Witcher's Freya Allan.

Bagman is another horror movie coming soon from Lionsgate, the studio behind Prey for the Devil and The Strangers: Chapter 1, neither of which were well-received and thus don't exactly make Bagman look all that appealing, but I'm willing to give it a chance—even if it is radiating January castoff energy.

Sam Claflin stars as Patrick McKee, who, as a child, was tormented by the idea of the mythical "Bagman," an evil being that lures children into traps lined with toys and candy before shoving them into his creepy bag and potentially devouring them. Decades later, now a full-grown adult with a wife (Antonia Thomas) and son (Caréll Vincent Rhoden) to protect, Patrick must contend with the Bagman again when he ensnares his family in a terrifying nightmare.

Based on a script from John Hulme, Bagman is directed by Colm McCarthy, best known for directing The Girl with All the Gifts and the "Black Museum" episode of Black Mirror. Sharon D. Clarke, Steven Cree, William Hope, Adelle Leonce, Peter McDonald, Henry Pettigrew, and Will Davis star alongside Thomas, Claflin, and Rhoden. Bagman has not yet been rated.

Lionsgate also shared the official film poster, showing one of the creepy dolls that the Bagman uses to entice his prey.

Before Bagman hits theaters, Lionsgate will release The Crow starring Bill Skarsgärd on August 23. The studio is also behind the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King's novel The Long Walk and will reportedly release the next chapter of its rebooted The Strangers trilogy sometime this year as well.

Bagman hits theaters on September 20. To stay up to date on thrillers, sci-fi, and horror, bookmark 1428 Elm and follow our Facebook page and Twitter account!
