Nicole Kidman gets roped into a murder mystery in trailer for Netflix series The Perfect Couple
We love a good murder mystery show, and it looks like Netflix's The Perfect Couple will be just that. The streaming giant has finally released the official teaser trailer for the upcoming six-part series, and after watching it, we're even more pumped up about the show's release.
We first learned of The Perfect Couple back in August 2022 when Netflix announced that it had ordered a limited series adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand's 2018 New York Times bestselling novel of the same name. This is what the show is based on. It was announced that Jenna Lamia (Awkward., Good Girls) would be adapting the book into a television series for Netflix as well as serving as showrunner and executive producer. Award-winning filmmaker Susanne Bier would direct all six episodes as well as executive produce.
Shawn Levy's 21 Laps Entertainment was revealed to be producing the movie through its overall deal with Netflix, with The Jackal Group also producing. In addition, other executive producers on the movie include Hilderbrand, Levy, Josh Barry, Gail Berman, and Hend Baghdady.
Described as a mystery drama series, The Perfect Couple follows a young woman named Amelia Sacks. Amelia is about to marry into one of the wealthiest families on Nantucket, even though the groom's mother disapproves of their marriage union. But when she wakes up on the morning of her wedding, a dead body is found floating on the beach, and what was supposed to be a special day filled with joy and love turns into a complete disaster. Everyone is now a suspect in a potential murder case, including Amelia.
The cast is made up of many well-known actors. Eve Hewson (Behind Her Eyes, Flora and Son) stars in the leading role of Amelia Sacks, while Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies, A Family Affair) plays the role of Amelia's future mother-in-law, Greer Garrison Winbury. The rest of the star-studded cast includes Liev Schreiber, Dakota Fanning, Billy Howle, Meghann Fahy, Ishaan Khattar, Jack Reynor, Sam Nivola, Mia Isaac, Donna Lynne Champlin, Isabelle Adjani, Omar Epps, and Nick Searcy.

Mark your calendar, clear your schedule, and set your alarm because The Perfect Couple is slated to be released on Netflix on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET!
