Not even Ethan Hawke knows what's coming in Stranger Things season 5 despite his daughter starring

Ethan Hawke and daughter Maya Hawke might be collaborating on the upcoming Flannery O'Connor biopic Wildcat, but when it comes to sharing secrets about Maya's other project, the mega-popular Stranger Things, she's good at keeping secrets. Even her father isn't privy to any behind-the-scenes details or spoilers from the upcoming fifth and final season. So if you thought just because they're family, she'd tell him what's going on—think again!

Maya is hard at work alongside her cast mates in Georgia where filming on the fifth season is currently taking place. Season 5 is expected to release sometime next year. Ethan is just as much in the dark as the rest of us fans apparently.

He tells People Magazine that while he loves to "geek out" about her performance as Robin Buckley on Stranger Things, he remains a staunch professional when working with her in other capacities, like on Wildcat.

"I can be proud of her and geek out with so much joy when I watch Stranger Things. But when I'm directing her, I have a job to do which is to make sure we accomplish that goal.""

He feels to act any other way would be a disservice to Maya as an actress and he has too much respect for her, and their colleagues, for that.

"We had so many amazing collaborators, and all these very serious artists that were there to try to make a serious work. They weren't there for it to be cute or for us to make a home movie," says The Black Phone star.

Despite this, Maya hasn't given up any juicy details on the new season of the Netflix hit. Ethan told the outlet he sometimes nudges her for a scoop, but "she won't give them up," even blaming his "big mouth" for why she won't spill.

"So nope, not even to dear old dad."

It's not too surprising that Maya would be hesitant to say anything. Fans have been waiting so long for the final season to arrive that things getting leaked at this point would be disappointing. Between the writer's and actor's strikes, filming on season 5 had been significantly delayed.

But even though Robin's actress won't spoil anything, she did tell Collider that she knows what's going to happen at this point and she received answers to many questions she had from the series, noting discovering those resolutions "was mindbogglingly wonderful" for her and she thinks "audiences will feel that way too."

Its been an emotional journey for the actress and fellow cast members to go into this final season, which will consist of eight episodes to wrap the story up.

As for Wildcat, the film initially premiered at the 50th Telluride Film Festival and it's set to receive a limited release on Friday, May 3, before opening wide sometime after.
