It's been a long time coming, but soon, people in the U.S. will finally get to watch Orphan Black: Echoes. The complete first season dropped in November 2023 in Australia on the Australian streaming service Stan. Now, the new series is set to make its premiere in the U.S. this June. Below, we shared everything you need to know about the show, including the release schedule and where exactly you'll be able to watch it in the United States.

Orphan Black: Echoes is a Canadian sci-fi thriller series based on the original series Orphan Black, which was created by John Fawcett and Graeme Manson. It's considered a spinoff and was created by Anna Fishko, who is known for previously writing for other TV shows such as Pieces of Her, The Society and Fear the Walking Dead.

We first learned about the Orphan Black spinoff back in March 2019 when it was announced that a new series set in the same universe as Orphan Black was in development at AMC. In February 2022, Fishko signed on as writer and creator, and a couple of months later in April, the show was officially ordered and given a name, Orphan Black: Echoes.

In July 2022, Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter was announced to have been cast in the lead role of Lucy. A total episode count of 10 episodes was revealed at the time as well. Then, in August 2022, new cast additions were announced, such as Amanda Fix, Avan Jogia, and Keeley Hawes. Production had also started in Toronto that month and would later wrap up in January 2023. More cast additions were announced later in 2023.

The show is set in 2052 and follows the life of the now-adult Kira Manning (Sarah’s daughter from the original series) and her wife as they try to help a woman who knows nothing about her past. As mentioned above, Ritter plays Lucy. Lucy is an amnesiac woman who is trying to uncover the truth behind her identity. In addition, English actress Keeley Hawes stars as Kira Manning, a scientist.

Here's the rest of the cast and who they play in the series:

  • Amanda Fix as Jules Lee
  • Avan Jogia as Jack
  • James Hiroyuki Liao as Paul Darros
  • Rya Kihlstedt as Dr. Eleanor Miller
  • Reed Diamond as Tom
  • Tattiawna Jones as Emily
  • Zariella Langford-Haughton as Charlie
  • Jonathan Whittaker as Craig
  • Jaeden Noel as Lucas Manning

  • Adam Kenneth Wilson as James
  • Liam Diaz as Wes
  • Alex Castillo as Neva

There are also guest appearances from actors such as Jordan Gavaris, Marnie McPhail-Diamond,
Kathy Baker, August Winter, and Evelyne Brochu. Gavaris and Brochu reprise their roles as Felix and Delphine from the original series in the spinoff.

Here's the show's official synopsis via AMC:

"Set in the near future, Orphan Black: Echoes takes a deep dive into the exploration of the scientific manipulation of human existence. It follows a group of women as they weave their way into each other's lives and embark on a thrilling journey, unraveling the mystery of their identity and uncovering a wrenching story of love and betrayal. "

Take a look at the exciting official teaser trailer below for a sneak peek!

On May 9, AMC+ dropped the gripping official trailer and there's so much to unpack. Check it out below.

Based on the trailer, it looks like Lucy was experimented on by scientists in the past, and now, in the present, dangerous people are after her for some unknown reason. She has no recollection of her past but is determined to find out the truth. She eventually meets a teen girl she believes to be a younger version of herself. Since the original series was about cloning, could this teen girl be Lucy's clone? We think so.

Kira was one of the scientists who had conducted experiments on Lucy in the past, but it looks like she might not be a bad person since she expressed her concerns to a colleague about Lucy's safety. I mean, she can't be a bad person, right? She's Sarah Manning's daughter. I don't know about you, but I'm even more pumped to see the spinoff after watching the trailer!

Orphan Black: Echoes is set to premiere on June 23 on AMC, AMC+, and BBC America. Will you be watching the new sci-fi series?
