Ready your midnight margaritas because the Owens sisters are returning to us soon! Not only has Warner Bros. confirmed that a Practical Magic sequel is in the works, but on June 13, Nicole Kidman confirmed that she and Sandra Bullock will be returning to reprise their roles as Gillian and Sally Owens!

While chatting with People Magazine about her new Netflix Original movie, A Family Affair, Kidman said they found "a way in," meaning they have a great idea for a sequel.

"Yes I will be in it. And Sandy will be in it. And that's that. There's a lot more to tell which is why we go, 'OK, this is kind of interesting now to be able to do this.'"

In early June, Warner Bros. teased a special announcement coming at midnight on their TikTok. When the time came, they announced Practical Magic had become available to stream on Max (and purchase or rent digitally).

They saved the best news for later, revealing that a sequel to the beloved 1998 movie is officially in the works via TikTok. According to Variety, the screenplay for the new film will be penned by Cinderella Man writer Akiva Goldsman.

The 1998 movie wasn't exactly a critical darling when it was released, but like Hocus Pocus, it has gone on to earn its status as a Halloween classic.

Based on Alice Hoffman's novel of the same name, the movie follows the Owens sisters, Sally (Bullock) and Gillian (Kidman), who come from a magical lineage and a curse bestowed upon them by their aunt Frances (Stockard Channing). The curse dooms any man who falls in love with an Owens woman. We see what happens firsthand when Sally accidentally kills Gillian's abusive ex, and the two must reanimate his corpse to ensure they don't get caught.

This isn't the first time WB has tried to capitalize on the 1998 film's cult-classic status. Previously, HBO considered making a spinoff series based on Hoffman's prequel novel, but it never panned out.

Let's hope that won't be the case this time around! Variety also says Kidman and Bullock are expected to produce the sequel alongside Denise Di Novi.
