Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is a busy man, constantly involved in many different projects. Most people know him as the creator of popular TV shows RiverdaleChilling Adventures of Sabrina, and the Pretty Little Liars reboot series. Now, he's set to make a live-action Bat Boy series for Netflix alongside One Piece co-showrunner Joe Tracz.

Some people might know of the fictional creature Bat Boy, while others may not. The character, who is a half-bat, half-boy, appeared in the American supermarket tabloid Weekly World News in the '90s. His story would be turned later into an Off-Broadway musical, Bat Boy: The Musical, in 1997. However, it's important to mention that there won't be any connection between the musical and this new live-action series.

Aguirre-Sacasa will executive produce Bat Boy through his banner, Muckle Man Productions, and his overall deal with Warner Bros. Television. In addition, Tracz, Jimmy Gibbons, and Weekly World News Editor-in-Chief Greg D’Alessandro are signed on to executive produce.

The YA horror-comedy will center around the title character. He's a teen who also goes by the name of Bobby Bates. For the longest time, Bobby had been living away from the rest of the world in an abandoned carnival located on the outskirts of town. That's until he meets teen girls and sisters, Charisma and Olive, who brings him back to civilization.

He enrolls at the local high school, Cypressville High, and tries his best to assimilate into society and navigate this new world while also trying to solve a mystery. But he quickly realizes that fitting in won't be easy, especially when you're half-bat, half-human, and you crave human blood.

Sadly, this is all that has been revealed about the live-action Bat Boy series. As more information comes out, we'll make sure to come back and share all the juicy deets. So, stay tuned to 1428 Elm!
