Ryan Murphy is no stranger to casting some of the biggest names in Hollywood and he’s literally just pulled off the most unexpected casting move of the year! As first reported by Deadline, Murphy has cast NFL star tight end Travis Kelce for his upcoming horror series, Grotesquerie.

At this time, no details have been provided regarding who Kelce will be playing on the show nor do we know exactly how big his role in the show will be. All we know so far is that Kelce will be making his acting debut in the series alongside some of the biggest names in the industry, starring opposite Emmy-winner Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, and Lesley Manville in the series.

Nash helped break the news via Instagram with a video from the set in which she surprised her followers by revealing that Kelce is on set at the moment!

“Guess who I am working with on Grotesquerie right now,” Nash teased as she turned the camera over to reveal Kelce, who was all smiles as he shouted out his new journey referencing his acting debut.

Travis Kelce will film Grotesquerie during the NFL offseason

While we still don’t know when Grotesquerie will premiere on FX, it is expected the series will arrive sometime this fall around when the NFL season begins. However, the series will not impact Kelce’s role on the Kansas City Chiefs as Grotesquerie is currently in production and will be filming this summer.

The scheduling for filming is what is allowing Kelce to appear as a member of the cast, as he’ll be able to film his role before the NFL season begins and he has to report to training camp to fulfill his NFL contractual obligations.

This offseason is proving to be a busy one for Kelce. Not only is Kelce about to make his acting debut in a high-profile series from Ryan Murphy, but he’s also been tapped to host Amazon’s reboot of Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? Which is also expected to be filmed this spring into summer.

It’s going to be interesting to see who Kelce will be playing in the show, but his addition is likely going to give Swifties a reason to check out the show. All we know is Murphy is known for pushing the envelope with some gruesome and disturbing moments, so who knows what he’s cooking up for Kelce and the cast!

Grotesquerie is expected to premiere sometime this fall on FX.
