Scream queen Kate Siegel to star in new dark comedy Damned If You Do
One of our favorite scream queens has set her next project. We're talking about The Fall of the House of Usher star Kate Siegel. She's set to star in and executive produce an upcoming dark comedy called Damned If You Do. More on this project below.
Siegel is known for starring in many horror-based films and shows. Besides The Fall of the House of Usher, most people will recognize her from her roles in other Netflix horror shows such as The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor and Midnight Mass. She's also known for starring in the horror flicks Oculus, Hush, Ouija: Origin of Evil and Gerald's Game.
While we have enjoyed Siegel's performance in every horror project she's been a part of so far, we're really looking forward to seeing her take on a different genre. She's an incredible actress, so we're sure she'll knock her new role out of the park.
Damned If You Do is currently in production. It's co-directed by Jake Rubin and Evan Metzold from a screenplay co-written by Ellen Adair and Eric Gilde. Rubin and Metzold make their directorial debuts with this film. They're also signed on as executive producers. In addition, the movie is produced by Objectively Good Media. Matthew R. Cooper and Uwakokunre (Kokie) are producing for OGM alongside Lior Haas.
Now, check out the movie's plot. It'll definitely grab your attention! The dark comedy follows a group of teenage friends who decide to sell their souls to the devil to get what they want in life. One ends up becoming a rock star, another becomes a tech mogul, and the last one becomes a high-profile activist. But like with any contract, there's a deadline, and that deadline is set for their 25th high school reunion. Now adults, the friend group finds themselves having to enlist the help of an old classmate to figure out a way to get out of their contracts before the devil comes and collects.
Siegel is the only actress to have been cast so far, but it's unknown at the moment who she will be playing in the film. Once we learn this information, we'll come back and share it. We'll also share every new cast addition that's announced.
Here's what Rubin and Metzold had to say about getting the opportunity to make this film via Deadline:
"We feel very lucky to be working with such a talented and hilarious cast. They make our job easy and bring a wealth of experience to the table that has helped to elevate an already spectacular script. Between our incredible cast and crew, we have formed a remarkable team that truly feels like family, and we are excited to collaborate with this group on our debut feature."
