Scream star Matthew Lillard to host Halloween baking special Killer Cakes
By Mads Lennon
More Halloween baking shows are on the way! Prime Video has shared new photos of its upcoming two-part special Killer Cakes, hosted by Scream and Five Nights at Freddy's star Matthew Lillard. The special will also feature Halloween actress Danielle Harris as a host alongside food artist and cookbook author Nikk Alcaraz (Peculiar Baking).
1428 Elm has learned that the two-part special will debut exclusively on Prime Video on Thursday, October 8 in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.
It sounds like Killer Cakes will be a nice supplement to Halloween season, especially for fans of Food Network's spooky line-up, featuring the return of favorites like Halloween Baking Championship, Outrageous Pumpkins, and Halloween Wars.
Hailing from Blumhouse Television and High Noon Entertainment (the team behind Cake Boss), this "deliciously-gory" baking competition show challenges bakers to create frightening yet yummy creations that will test their skills.
"Contestants will work with the best horror special effects artists in Hollywood to unleash their twisted imaginations and create cakes so disgusting, so disturbing, and so realistic, it’s the stuff of nightmares."
Ruth Amsel will serve as showrunner. Amsel has previously acted as executive producer on shows like Halloween Wars, Cake Wars, and Outrageous Pumpkins.
Meet the contestants:
- Amanda Yother: Rathdrum, ID
- Dillon Barlow: Houston, TX
- Dziedra "Z" Brusberg: Marysville, WA
- Deadra "Dee" Compean: Beaumont, TX
- Eszter Summerlin: Gulf Breeze, FL
- Jesse Lesser: Dallas, TX
- Mark Lie: Chicago, IL

Horror fans know Harris best from her work in the Halloween franchise where she played Jamie Lloyd, and later Annie Brackett in the Rob Zombie reboot. She's also starred as the lead of the Hatchet series as Marybeth Dunston, and this year, she appeared in the Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead reboot and the upcoming horror film Stream.
Lillard is something of a scream king himself, getting his start in the genre with his breakout role as Stu Macher in the original Scream and later appearing in the cult favorite film Thirteen Ghosts. Lillard made his debut as William Afton in Five Nights at Freddy's in 2023 and will return for the upcoming sequel, slated for a December 2025 release. He's also an executive producer on Killer Cakes.
Both parts of the Killer Cakes special debut exclusively on Prime Video on Oct. 8.
