More Rebel Moon is on the way. Like, lots more. The big R-rated director's cuts of Zack Snyder's behemoth space opera story have an official release date: August 2.

Earlier today, Netflix shared new photos and details on the director's cut, described as "bloodier" and "sexier" versions than the original cuts. Given that Atticus Noble actor Ed Skrein has teased an uncut alien sex scene coming in the R-rated version, I can see what they mean.

Horror fans might consider giving the new versions of the films a chance, as Skrein also explicitly described the director's cuts as horror.

"It is horror. And that was fun to shoot, and I'm excited for people to see that," the actor told GamesRadar.

Part One: A Child of Fire hit streaming on December 2023, followed by Part Two: The Scargiver this past April. Both films were a little over two hours, meaning watching the original versions would take about four and a half hours.

In addition to new content and a more mature rating, the two director's cuts will be renamed as follows:

  • Chapter One: Chalice of Blood
  • Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness

The new versions will be released simultaneously, so you can enjoy a "settle-in deep dive" and truly immerse yourself in the world of Rebel Moon on August 2. Fans can expect scenes that were specifically filmed for the director's cut.

Part One: A Child of Fire and Part Two: The Scargiver received PG-13 ratings for strong violence, strong language, bloody images, sexual assault, sexual material, partial nudity, and suicide. Anticipate significantly gorier and more mature content in the forthcoming R-rated versions.

Here's the full blurb about the director's cuts shared by Netflix:

"Delve further into the mythology and madness of Zack Snyder’s epic sci-fi saga in the viciously sexier, bloodier world of ‘Rebel Moon — Chapter One: Chalice of Blood’ and ‘Rebel Moon – Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness,'” a Netflix release says. “In Snyder’s director’s cut, a peaceful settlement on a moon in the furthest reaches of the universe finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius, and Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Motherworld, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants, and orphans of war who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a new army of heroes is formed"

For those eager to step back into the world of Rebel Moon, you can add the director's cut of Part One and Part Two to your Netflix watchlist now to receive a notification when they start streaming.
