Shay Mitchell, Andrew Burnap, and Nate Mann join new thriller The Up and Comer

A new thriller titled The Up and Comer is currently in the works, and you won't believe who just joined the cast! Talented actors such as Shay Mitchell, Andrew Burnap, and Nate Mann are set to star in this upcoming movie, and we shared more about their casting and the film below.

Golden Globe winner Chris Long will helm The Up and Comer from a screenplay penned by Howard Roughan. Long and Roughan will also produce the film along with Jeremy Alter and Gary B. Goldman. Long is best known for serving as lead director and as an executive producer on the spy thriller series The Americans. He also directed episodes of the TV shows The Mentalist, Suspicion and The Patient. Roughan, on the other hand, is a New York Times bestselling author known for writing the 2001 thriller novel The Up and Comer. Yes, this book is what the thriller movie is based on.

The film revolves around Phillip Randall, a gifted attorney who is getting ready to become the youngest partner at his prestigious law firm. Everything seems to be falling into place for him until he finds his seemingly perfect life threatened by a former prep-school classmate. This classmate knows Phillip's darkest secret, which involves an affair with another woman. Things only get worse for Phillip as he suddenly finds himself entangled in a murder investigation that will affect not only his career but also his marriage and the fabulous life he's built.

Nate Mann (Apples Never Fall, Masters of the Air) stars as the up-and-coming lawyer, Phillip Randall, while Andrew Burnap (Snow White, The Front Room) plays the role of Phillip's former classmate. Shay Mitchell, who is best known for starring as Emily Fields in the mystery teen drama series Pretty Little Liars and as Stella Cole in the comedy series Dollface, will play the woman with whom Phillip is having an affair.

Long expressed his excitement to work with Mann, Burnap, and Mitchell on this new movie in a statement to Deadline:

Production on The Up and Comer is slated to get started in Chicago in October. Unfortunately, that's the last piece of information that we know about this thriller at the moment.
