The journey continues with The Ark season 2, a follow-up to Syfy's surprise hit series from co-showrunners Jonathan Glassner (Stargate) and Dean Devlin (Stargate, Independence Day). Season 2 picks up with the crew searching for a new home (SPOILER!) after their previous one exploded. The season 1 finale was jam-packed with action and several cliffhangers, including a few characters' fates left up in the air.

On June 13, Syfy released the first full-length trailer for season 2, which premieres on July 17. The trailer sets up the next stage for Ark One's survivors as they set course for a new destination. The last time we saw Evelyn's antagonistic daughter, Kelly, she was being transported back to Ark 15 for medical treatment. But the trailer shows her alive, well, and literally kicking, so we can assume she safely recovered (for better or worse).

Watch the trailer right here:

The team begins a new mission, this time involving a distress call from Ark Eight, and at one point, it sounds like the team's best engineer, Eva, finds herself in trouble. For those who loved the found family dynamics of the first season, it looks like there's plenty more in store for season 2.

Another intriguing part of the new footage shows Alicia being attacked by a dangerous-looking bolt of electricity. As Brice puts it, the crew might be facing off against more "scary science things that's like 'amazing,' but is probably going to kill us all."

What will the lives of our favorite crew look like as they move forward into a more hopeful and brighter future? And will they all make it there in one piece?

Here's the official season 2 logline shared by Syfy:

"In season two, after the brave crew of Ark One reaches their destination and finds it uninhabitable, they must survive long enough to locate a new home for themselves and all the ships that follow."

New episodes of The Ark begin airing on Wednesday, July 17 at 10/9c on Syfy. Episodes stream next-day on Peacock, where you can revisit the first season anytime.
