The Boulet Brothers' season 666 episode 1 spoilers: Welcome to Hell!

Episode one of The Boulet Brothers' Dragula season six showed off the new competitors' drag skills, senses of humor and moxie (for some). There was a lot of shade thrown, and ultimately, there was blood in the water.

The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula is back for their sixth season…or as they call it: Season 666. With eleven new competitors and one returning Queen, the first episode was “super sized” at 90 minutes.

Of course the opening scene was filled with cattiness as the competitors came face to face for the first time, and started throwing shade on one another. My early faves were Asia Consent, Severity, Majesty (formerly known as James Majesty, who competed in Dragula’s second season), Grey Matter, Jaharia and Aurora.

Asia didn’t make a great first impression upon her entrance, because her wig was snatched by one of the cavorting creatures she had to walk through. The others were of the opinion that she had simply chosen not wear a wig at all. Scylla was ridiculed because her breastplate was not concealed.

As the group was escorted into the theater, they were greeted by last year’s winner Niohuru X, then by the Boulets themselves, who were projected onto the big screen. Drac and Swan welcomed the newbies, then informed them that their first challenge would be a legacy challenge, Horror Icons Reimagined. The winner of the floor show challenge would get a $2,500 shopping spree at Fierce Queen Shoes.

They first had to navigate the Haunt of Horrors, where there was a hidden scroll. The person who found the scroll would be granted immunity in the first challenge. The haunt was pretty intense, and ultimately, Scylla found the scroll.

When the queens finally reached the headquarters, they had tons of swag laid out. While going through their loot, they chatted about who each of them saw as competition and who they thought wouldn’t make it.

Before the floor show began, the Boulets introduced our judges, Jamie Clayton (from Hulu’s Hellraiser) and Akela Cooper (writer of Malignant and M3GAN).

Then it was on to the floor show. Some of the looks were fierce (Asia’s Art the Clown), some were meh (Yuri’s Dracula, which would have been better if the costume transformation had been better executed), and others were just not very inspired (Scylla’s version of The Human Centipede). Scylla wisely chose to use her immunity scroll for herself.

When the group returned to the cauldron, the Boulets dished about how they thought the floor show had gone, and Swanthula described the new cast as chaotic. That could be good or bad, depending on how you look at it, I guess.

Upon returning to the stage, Grey Matter, Vivi, Jaharia, Desiree and Pi were called forward and told they were safe, but not to leave the stage (uh-oh). The high scorers were Asia Consent, Auntie Heroine (who dressed as a drag version of Little Shop of Horror’s Audrey II) and Majesty (Bram Stoker’s Dracula). On the bottom were Aurora’s mummy, Severity’s Candyman (too basic, and her performance was very low energy) and Yuri, whose costume and performance were christened “clumsy.”

Asia Consent won the challenge, but then the Boulets threw out a shocker: where normally they and the judges would decide who would compete in the elimination challenge, there was a twist. Instead, the contestants themselves would vote, and the only one off limits was Scylla, due to her immunity.

In the end, Severity and Aurora had to go head-to-head in an underwater elimination challenge. They were taken out into the ocean, where they had to dive into shark infested waters without a cage to protect them. Both were understandably terrified, but both went into the water.

Severity made the decision to get back in the boat first, leaving Aurora to return to the competition. As is tradition, Severity was then murdered by the Boulets, via having her face smashed into the dressing room mirror.

I’m excited to see what next week’s episode brings to the Dragula table! I’m sorry that Severity didn’t get a chance to redeem herself, but she just let her nerves get the better of her.
