A controversial film from the jump, Lionsgate's gothic superhero remake of The Crow turned out to be a resounding flop on all counts. Not only did the movie get panned by fans and critics alike, but it hasn't generated much money at the box office, so far only earning around $18.7 million on a $50 million budget. Not even the charms of lead Bill Skarsgard could save this one.

But perhaps The Crow will find new life when it arrives on demand, allowing more people to check it out from the comfort of their own homes instead of having to trek to their local movie theater. Beginning on Friday, September 13, you'll be able to purchase the movie on PVOD from digital retailers like Apple TV, Amazon, Fandango at Home, Google Play, and more.

The Crow follows the darkly entrancing love story between Eric Draven (Skarsgard), a struggling addict, and a troubled musician named Shelly Webster (Twigs). Tragically, the fated soulmates are brutally murdered, and when Eric gets the chance to save Shelly by sacrificing himself and an opportunity to seek revenge against their killers, kicking off a bloody, vengeful rampage.

Besides Skarsgard and Twigs, the film stars Danny Huston, Josette Simon, and Laura Birn. Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) directs.

In addition to the movie, select participating platforms will include some fun special features usually reserved for the physical release. These include featurettes about how Skarsgard became The Crow, what went into building the set, and other fun extras involving the cast and crew.

Starting on September 13, The Crow will be available to rent for a 48-hour period for $19.99 or you can purchase the digital version for $24.99. Not that the movie did receive an R rating for strong bloody violence, gore, language, sexuality/nudity, and drug use.

Fans of Skarsgard can next catch the actor in the upcoming Robert Eggers horror film Nosferatu, premiering in theaters this December. He'll also reprise his role as Pennywise in the HBO It prequel series Welcome to Derry slated for 2025.
