The Strangers: Chapter 1 DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K details: What bonus features are included?

Willingly invite Dollface, Pin-Up Girl, and Scarecrow into your home with the upcoming physical media release of Lionsgate film The Strangers: Chapter 1, the first in a new trilogy based on Bryan Bertino's original 2008 movie.

On June 25, Lionsgate Home Entertainment announced that the home invasion thriller comes to 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on July 23. The physical copy includes exciting extras, like an audio commentary track with star Madelaine Petsch and behind-the-scenes featurettes.

I'm impressed that the physical copy is getting a commentary track, an increasing rarity in this day and age. Apart from the commentary, the physical edition also features two featurettes.

Before The Strangers: Chapter 1 was released in theaters, Renny Harlin had already finished directing the entire trilogy. Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland wrote the scripts for the trilogy, and based on how the first film ends, Petsch is presumably returning to lead the sequels. The Strangers: Chapter 2 is expected later this year, with Chapter 3 likely coming out in the first half of 2025.

The Strangers: Chapter 1 revolves around a young couple (Petsch and Froy Gutierrez) forced to spend the night in a remote cabin after their car breaks down while driving through an eerie small town. A quiet night devolves into chaos when a trio of masked strangers strike, terrorizing their victims as they plead for mercy.

With Lionsgate as the distributor, we anticipate that The Strangers: Chapter 1 will eventually stream on Starz. Those interested can subscribe now for as low as $9.99/month. As of June 7, The Strangers: Chapter 1 is available to buy or rent through digital retailers like Amazon Video, Apple, YouTube, and Google Play.

Despite poor critical and audience reception, The Strangers: Chapter 1 performed well theatrically, earning over $42.1 million worldwide on an $8.5 million budget.
