This new Italian thriller movie on Netflix's top 10 list is a must-watch

If you're ever looking for something new to watch, especially thrillers, Netflix should be one of your go-to streaming platforms. One of the most popular movies on Netflix right now is a new mystery thriller called Vanished into the Night. It's definitely worth watching if you're looking for something really suspenseful with a crazy twist.

Otherwise known as Svaniti Nella Notte, Vanished into the Night is an Italian thriller film from Renato De Maria (The Ruthless, Robbing Mussolini, iLe indagini di Lolita Lobosco). He directed the movie from a screenplay co-written by Francesca Marciano (The Miracle, L'arte della gioia) and Luca Infascelli (Sei fratelli, L'arte della gioia). In addition, it's based on the Argentine-Spanish mystery movie 7th Floor by Patxi Amezcua and Alejo Flah.

After their two young kids are kidnapped in the middle of the night, divorcing couple Pietro and Elena are forced to work together to bring them back home safely. However, this proves difficult to do when the kidnapper demands 150,000 euros in cash in exchange for the kids' safe return home. Pietro doesn't have the ransom money due to his gambling debt, so he's forced to have to contact an old friend from his past.

This friend is a criminal who's involved in illegal activities. In exchange for money, Pietro is given the dangerous task of acquiring drugs from an island and bringing them back to the friend. Since he desperately wants to find his kids, he's willing to go to extreme lengths to save them, even if it means putting his own life at risk.

Well-known Italian actor and film producer Riccardo Scamarcio stars in the leading role of Pietro La Torre. You might recognize him from his previous roles in movies such as Burnt, John Wick: Chapter 2, The Players, The Ruthless and A Haunting in Venice. We'll see him next in a biographical drama film called Modì and a drama movie called Close to Me.

English actress Annabelle Wallis stars in the role of Elena Walgren, a psychotherapist and Pietro's estranged wife. Wallis is best known for her previous roles as Jane Seymour in the period drama series The Tudors, Grace Burgess in the period crime drama series Peaky Blinders, Mia Form in the horror film Annabelle, and Jenny Halsey in the action-adventure film The Mummy. She also starred in the leading role of Madison Mitchell in the horror flick Malignant. We'll see her next in an upcoming drama film titled The Silence of Mercy and a sci-fi movie called Mercy.

Joining Scamarcio and Wallis in the cast as their two kids are Gaia Coletti as Bianca and Lorenzo Ferrante as Giovanni. Massimiliano Gallo (Imma Tataranni: Deputy Prosecutor, I bastardi di Pizzofalcone) plays Pietro's criminal friend, Nicola.
