Signs is a sci-fi horror flick written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. It centers around a former Episcopal priest named Graham Hess, who struggles with his faith after his wife's untimely death. While living on his Pennsylvania farm with his two kids and younger brother, he one day discovers mysterious crop circles in the fields. However, he initially dismisses it as mischief by delinquents. That's until strange and unsettling events begin to occur, and the same circular patterns start to appear globally. This leads him to believe that the crop circles are a sign that a worldwide alien invasion is about to occur.
Mel Gibson stars in the leading role of widowed former priest Graham Hess. Joining him in the cast are Joaquin Phoenix, Rory Culkin, Abigail Breslin, Cherry Jones, M. Night Shyamalan, Patricia Kalember, Ted Sutton, Merritt Wever, Lanny Flaherty, Marion McCorry, Michael Showalter, and Clifford David.
Signs was released in theaters in August 2002, and was a box office hit, grossing $408 million against a $72 million budget. It also received mostly positive reviews from critics with many applauding the movie for its story, direction, cinematography, strong performances, atmosphere, sound design and music.

He tells Malcolm that the ghosts he sees often ask for his help in resolving unfinished business. While initially skeptical about Cole's claims, Malcolm gradually comes to believe him and even encourages him to assist the spirits. Meanwhile, Malcolm works to uncover the truth about Cole's supernatural abilities. But what he ends up discovering is the shocking truth about his own existence.

Critics had this to say about The Sixth Sense via Rotten Tomatoes:
"You leave slightly asquirm. You know it will linger. It becomes a clammy, chilly movie building toward a revelation that you cannot predict. As I say: I cannot tell you. You'd hate me if I did. I can only say, don't look now, but look sometime."
- Stephen Hunter
"A delicate, emotionally attentive, but very scary ghost story."
- David Denby
Both Signs and The Sixth Sense are rated PG-13, so they may be inappropriate for ages under 13. Signs was given a PG-13 age rating for some frightening moments while The Sixth Sense was rated the same for intense thematic material and violent images.
