The (almost) annual tradition of watching a new V/H/S movie will continue this October with the newly announced seventh film in the franchise V/H/S/Beyond, being released on October 4 on Shudder and AMC+.

Variety exclusively reports that the seventh installment will feature some really exciting collaborations, like the directorial debut of Kate Siegel, best known for starring in projects such as The Fall of the House of Usher, Hush, and The Haunting of Hill House, all of which were created by her husband and frequent collaborator Mike Flanagan.

Siegel's segment in V/H/S/Beyond is titled "Stowaway" and comes from a script she wrote with Flanagan. Barbarian star Justin Long also has a segment in the new film, one he wrote and directed with his brother Christian Long.

Here's all the segments expected in the film:

  • "Stowaway" - Directed by Kate Siegel, written in collaboration with Mike Flanagan
  • "Fur Babies" - Directed and written by Justin and Christian Long
  • "Stork" - Directed by Jordan Downey (ThanksKilling), with a screenplay by him and Kevin Stewart
  • "Live and Let Dive" - Directed by Justin Martinez (Southbound), story by Martinez and Ben Turner and screenplay by Turner
  • "Dream Girl" - Directed by Virat Pal, written by Pal and Evan Dickson

The film will also include a special presentation from Jay Cheel, who previously worked on both seasons of the Shudder series Cursed Films.

According to the source, V/H/S/Beyond will have more of a sci-fi slant than previous films. The six tapes are obviously horror stories but they're set within a "sci-fi inspired hellscape."

Starting in 2012, V/H/S has become one of the most popular found-footage franchises, having spawned six movies, two spin-off films (SIREN and Kids vs. Aliens), and a miniseries titled V/H/S: Video Horror Shorts that debuted on Snapchat.

Last year's title, V/H/S/85, became the most-watched exclusive film premiere of 2023 for Shudder/AMC+.

Shudder hasn't released any story details for the six new segments yet, but some of the directors and writers attached to V/H/S/Beyond have taken to social media to tease what to expect. One of the most interesting is Jordan Downey's tweet saying that his segment is "the most mad thing" he's done. Coming from the guy who directed ThanksKilling, that's saying a lot.
