Season two of AMC Networks’ series Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire is coming up very soon, and AMC has released a new teaser (which you can see at the end of this article). The series is more or less based on the novel of the same name, written by Anne Rice.
Let’s recount the events depicted in the first season. *NOTE: This article contains spoilers from season one of Interview with the Vampire.
In 2022, a vampire named Louis de Pointe du Lac (played by Jacob Anderson) is telling his story to Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian). A large portion of the vampire’s life story is inhabited by Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid), the vampire who sired Louis, and by young Claudia (Delainey Hayles), who Louis convinced Lestat to turn.
We see Louis, a young man who is befriended by the enigmatic vampire Lestat. When Louis’s brother kills himself and his mother blames him for it, Louis allows Lestat to turn him into a vampire, and the two spend decades together (thought they are in conflict for much of that time).
They are soon joined by young Claudia, who eventually leaves them due to her loneliness and feeling of not belonging. Years later, she returns and asks Louis to join her, but Lestat beats him severely, then disappears. After Claudia nurses Louis back to health, Lestat returns and eventually talks Louis and Claudia into giving him another chance.
After Lestat proves repeatedly that he has not changed and cannot be trusted, Claudia persuades Louis that they need to kill Lestat. At a Mardi Gras ball, she drugs a human who Lestat drinks from, causing him to collapse. Louis then slits his throat, and the two put his body in a trunk to be taken to the local dump.
The second season of Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire will premiere Sunday, May 12 on AMC and AMC+.
In season two, the interview continues as Louis gives Daniel details of his and Claudia’s travels in Europe, where they discover the Theatre Des Vampires in Paris. While there, Louis meets a vampire named Armand (Assad Zaman), who he proclaims to be the great love of his life. But that love comes at a cost.
