Watch the teaser for Stephen Cognetti's upcoming sequel Hell House LLC: Lineage
By Carla Davis
Hell House LLC is the little horror movie that could, a gift that just keeps on giving. First shown at 2015’s Telluride Horror Show, it originally seemed like just another low-budget independent film with no known actors attached. It was written and directed by Stephen Cognetti, who was also an unknown quantity.
But, slowly and surely, Hell House LLC began to hit a sweet spot with horror fans, including yours truly. Back in 2016 or so, I was scrolling through the free horror movies on Prime, and the unusually positive reviews caught my eye, so I decided to give it a shot. And, boy was I glad I did! We seasoned horror fans know that it’s rare to find a film that genuinely creeps us out – heck, I can count on one hand all of the horror movies in the past ten years that have achieved that honor with me. Hell House LLC was one of those.
Hell House LLC began streaming on multiple on-demand sites in 2016, before eventually ending up on Shudder, and the horror streaming platform picked up its sequels as Shudder exclusives.
The original film was set at a Halloween haunted house attraction run by a group of friends. The friends had been operating their seasonal house for several years, but this year’s was different, because it was the first time it was held at the old abandoned Abaddon Hotel. Unfortunately, on opening night, disaster struck and 15 staff members and guests were killed.
Told in found-footage style, the story unwinds in less than 90 intense minutes, and has plenty of jump scares and truly creepy moments and imagery. I don’t care whether or not you are normally freaked out by clowns, the clowns in HHLLC will still scare you!
Three sequels followed the original: The Abaddon Hotel, Lake of Fire, and last year’s Origins: The Carmichael Manor, and while they aren’t quite as effective as the first, they are still well worth watching, and provide their fair share of spooky moments.
Now Cognetti and Terror Films have dropped a creepy little teaser for yet another chapter in the Hell House LLC universe. Cognetti is back again as writer and director, Joe Bandelli is producing, and Terror Films’ CEO and COO, Joe Dain and Jim Clock are executive producing.
Hell House LLC: Lineage will begin production in November of this year, and plans are to release it exclusively on Shudder in October of next year.
Although little of the plotline has been announced, an article in Screen Anarchy claims the upcoming sequel “will continue a deeper dive into the back stories of various characters within the franchise, while introducing new characters and storylines.
