Woman of the Hour teaser: Anna Kendrick has a bad date with an infamous serial killer
We're getting closer and closer to the Netflix release date for Woman of the Hour, and you know what that means. An official teaser drop! On Sept. 17, Netflix released a teaser trailer for the upcoming thriller film, and I promise it'll grab your attention right away. Check it out below!
Woman of the Hour is a crime thriller based on the true story of the 1970s serial killer Rodney Alcala, who appeared on the dating show The Dating Game while in the midst of a murder spree. While appearing on an episode of the series, he ends up winning a date with contestant and aspiring actress Cheryl Bradshaw.
Academy nominee Anna Kendrick makes her directorial debut with this film as well as stars in it. She stars in the leading role of Cheryl Bradshaw. In addition, Ian McDonald wrote the movie's screenplay. The Pope's Exorcist star Daniel Zovatto portrays the role of infamous serial killer Rodney Alcala.
The rest of the talented cast is made up of Nicolette Robinson, Tony Hale, Kathryn Gallagher, Kelley Jakle, Autumn Best, Jessie Fraser, Taylor Hastings, Jedidiah Goodacre, and Darcy Laurie.
In the gripping teaser above, we watch what appears to be Cheryl and Rodney having their first date. This is most likely the date that Rodney wins after appearing on The Dating Game. While the date seems to start off well, things take a dark turn as Cheryl begins to notice Rodney exhibiting strange behavior. As the date comes to an end, Cheryl tries to hurry up and get to her car, but Rodney insists that he walks with her.
Things really get weird when Rodney asks Cheryl if she can repeat her phone number to him so that he can make sure he has the correct number. At this moment, it's obvious that Cheryl had given him a fake number. She proceeds to walk towards her car, but Rodney continues to follow her at a distance. Dun dun duuun!
Woman of the Hour premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival back in September 2023. Shortly after, Netflix reacquired rights to the film, and now it's set a release date for Friday, Oct. 18, 2024. You can expect the 1 hour and 23 minutes long movie to drop on Netflix at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET on this date.
