Almost 30 years after we first met magical sisters Gillian and Sally Owens, we'll be seeing them again in the highly-anticipated Practical Magic sequel, arriving in theaters on September 18, 2026.

On Tuesday, Warner Bros. shared a brief announcement video to reveal the theatrical release date and confirm the return of Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock in the leading roles. The video is short and sweet, featuring Kidman and Bullock voicing a little snippet, casting a spell on us all as they share the date.

"Tooth of wolf and morning dew, something old and something new."

The original Practical Magic based on Alice Hoffman's novel of the same name has become revered by many and garnered quite a significant cult following with fans appreciating the film's mix of drama, romance, and feminist themes coming together to form a touching and compelling film anchored by Bullock's and Kidman's performances.

Released in 1998, Practical Magic has become a staple movie in many fall and Halloween lineups. Every year, countless people revisit the story and relish its autumnal vibes. It's fitting that the sequel will come out in September, as that's often when fans enjoy their annual rewatch.

Griffin Dunne directed the first movie, which followed the Owens sisters learning how to use their magic to destroy a dark spirit manifested in Gillian's abusive boyfriend. Susanne Bier was reportedly in talks to direct the sequel, although not many additional details have been released about the sequel yet. Considering its 2026 release date, however, the movie is likely to go into production at some point this year and we'll likely start to learn more about it in the coming months.

While the confirmed sequel is exciting news, this isn't the first time Warner Bros. has tried to capitalize on Practical Magic's enduring popularity. At one point, the company tried developing a prequel series, but it did not move forward.

Before Practical Magic 2 hits our screens, you can catch Kidman in the Prime Video thriller Holland or the upcoming second season of Nine Perfect Strangers, arriving on May 21. She will also star in the upcoming Amazon crime thriller Scarpetta, the Australian series The Last Anniversary based on Liane Moriarty's novel, and David E. Kelley's drama Margo's Got Money Troubles.

Practical Magic 2 hits theaters on September 18, 2026. Practical Magic is streaming on Max.
