Prepare for scares: There are 11 new horror movies coming out this week!

Clowns attack, body horror arrives on Shudder, and Heart Eyes makes its streaming debut this week. But that's just the tip of the iceberg! There are 11 new horror movies being released this week and most of them will be on VOD so you can watch them at home.

The biggest release is definitely Clown in a Cornfield, a slasher based on the book series by Adam Cesare. But those who missed out on The Ugly Stepsister in theaters will be happy to know it's coming to Shudder this Friday! Other movies arriving this week include a new Australian horror movie from the Talk to Me producers, a movie about curing the werewolf curse, and a killer scarecrow film.

Clown in a Cornfield (May 9, Theaters)

Take a seat, Art, a new clown is in town. Frendo is here to terrify the good citizens of Kettle Springs in this slasher movie based on Adam Cesare's YA horror novel of the same name.

When Quinn (Katie Douglas) and her dad (Aaron Abrams) move to the midwestern town for a fresh start, they soon discover that the entire place is in disarray after their local factory burned down. As tensions begin to boil, a killer based on the factory's mascot, Frendo the Clown, begins terrorizing the townsfolk.

Missing the insanity of The Substance? The Ugly Stepsister is here to put your gag reflex to the test. This Norwegian body horror movie earned rave reviews during its Sundance premiere and has almost unanimous praise on Rotten Tomatoes.

Unfortunately, it didn't play in many theaters in the US but now we can finally check it out on Shudder this weekend! A twisted Cinderella retelling, The Ugly Stepsister centers on a girl intent on getting the prince's attention at any cost.

Heart Eyes (May 8, Netflix)

You'll never look at Valentine's Day the same when you watch this gory slasher about a masked maniac attacking couples in Seattle on the most romantic day of the year. Olivia Holt and Mason Gooding play co-workers mistaken for a couple as they become the Heart Eyes killer's latest targets. Makes its streaming debut on Netflix this Thursday.

A Deadly American Marriage (May 9, Netflix)

Netflix's latest true crime documentary is about the killing of Irish widower Jason Corbett. Years after marrying his au pair, Molly Martens, in 2008, Jason was brutally killed and Molly and her father were arrested for the crime. But is there more to the story than we initially thought?

First Moon (May 6, VOD)

Looking for another werewolf horror film? First Moon is another foray into the world of lycanthropy from writer/director Peter McLeod. This indie film follows a waitress who gets kidnapped by an overzealous cult intent on finding a cure to the werewolf problem plaguing them, even if it means potentially killing the afflicted in the process.

Field of Screams (May 6, VOD)

Clown in a Cornfield isn't the only horror movie this week to showcase the perils of a cornfield. Gravitas Ventures is set to release its scarecrow horror movie Field of Screams this Tuesday on VOD. When Allen inherits his grandfather's home, they head out to clean the place up, only to stumble upon a menacing and dangerous scarecrow who likes to harvest organs from his victims.

Thorns (May 6, Theaters)

A Hellraiser-inspired horror movie with nods to other classics like The Exorcist and Alien, Thorns follows a former priest sent into deep space where he mistakenly opens a portal to another world and unleashes a monster.

The Haunted Apartment: Miss K (May 8, Netflix)

A twisted new Indonesian horror movie arrives on Netflix this Thursday. Alma and her sister Mia learn that Apartment 610 harbors a horrific secret: whoever enters will die within four days. Is there a way for the sisters to prevent the curse from taking their lives?

Kryptic (May 9, VOD)

Kryptic is a new indie creature feature from Well Go Entertainment. A mysterious encounter in the woods leaves Kay reeling and without her memory. She discovers she supposedly looks like a missing monster hunter and becomes entangled in the search.

The Moogai (May 9, VOD)

The Moogai should definitely be on every horror fan's radar this week as it's a new Australian feature from the producers of Talk to Me and The Babadook. It performed well at Sundance, winning the Audience Award for Best Australian Feature. The story is about an Aboriginal couple dealing with an evil force threatening their family.

Feed (May 9, VOD)

Feed is a Swedish-language film about the first woman in Sweden to be tried and killed for witchcraft. A couple ends up on an island where a witch is said to live and they become invested in the local story, along with the potential threat that her ghost is still present.
