Prey star Amber Midthunder signs on for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2

We have our first new cast addition for the highly anticipated Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2, and it's none other than Amber Midthunder, who many may recognize from her starring role as Naru in the sci-fi film Prey.

According to Variety, she joins the season 2 cast of the Apple TV+ series, playing a character named Isabel. Isabel is described as an "intelligent and powerful businesswoman." Her role in the second season is said to be a "heavily" recurring role. Unfortunately, that's all that was revealed about her character so far. As more information comes out, we'll be sure to share everything we find.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is a popular monster series created by Chris Black and Matt Fraction. It's produced by Legendary Television and is part of the Monsterverse franchise. The Monsterverse is a cinematic universe that includes films like Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024). Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is the only other TV show in the franchise so far besides the Netflix animated series Skull Island.

"Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco, and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later when Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga — spanning three generations — reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives."

Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, John Goodman, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski all starred in the first season of the hit monster series.

The first season premiered on Apple TV+ in November 2023 and was received well by critics and viewers. Due to its success, Apple went ahead and renewed the monster series for a second installment in April 2024. The streaming giant also managed to strike a deal with Legendary Entertainment to develop multiple spinoff series. However, not much is known about Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 or its spinoffs as of right now. Midthunder's casting is the latest news we've heard about the second season of the monster series.

As mentioned above, Midthunder is best known for her previous role in Prey. However, she also had a regular role in the superhero series Legion and the sci-fi series Roswell, New Mexico. You might've also watched her in the TV shows Banshee, Longmire and Reservation Dogs.

Two of her most recent projects were playing the role of Princess Yue in the Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action series and as Dezbah Weaver in the sports drama film Rez Ball. Besides Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2, we'll see her next in the action thriller Novocaine and the horror flick Opus.
