Recap for episodes 2 and 3 of The Boulet Brothers' Dragula season six
By Carla Davis
I had originally planned to write these next two Dragula recaps up separately, but Hurrican Milton invaded my life last week, so now I am mashing them up in this one article. Both episodes were entertaining, and included plenty of drama on the part of the Dragula participants.
The Boulet Brothers' Dragula Episode 2: Killer Dolls
Episode two of The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula season 666 centered around the theme of Killer Dolls, and the “uglies” were up to the challenge. For the Fright Feat, they all had to participate in Drag Queen Dodge Ball (we all know how ugly that can get), and the winner was granted access to the Doll Parts Curse.
What is the Doll Parts Curse, you ask? The person who receives the curse would have to get ready for the floor show with one arm taped to their body. Jaharia won the challenge and chose to place the curse on Auntie Heroine.
There was a lot of dishing going on between the queens; Majesty pulled Aurora to the side and let them know that there were rumors that Aurora may have leaked the info that she was going to be a Dragula contestant. If true, this could cause Aurora to be disqualified.
Pi and Asia had a conversation wherein Pi apologized for saying Asia’s Art the Clown costume was over-designed. Pi asked Asia if she wanted to form an alliance, which she did not act on. Asia opened up a bit and admitted that she has trust issues due to the fact that her partner had cheated on her.
The Boulets showed up in fabulous orange skeleton dresses to into the floor show. This time, the uglies were to put together their best killer doll costumes and lip sync to Slayyter’s I Love Hollywood. The judges were Don Mancini (Child’s Play) and Jennifer Tilly (Chucky).
Although there was some variety in the doll costumes, there were several variations on clowns. Auntie’s was the most creative, though; they were costumed as a jack-in-the-box clown. As they lip synced, their movements were all performed while partially in the box, but the performance was perfection.
Scylla and Desiree were the bottom two, and Jennifer Tilly showed her true heart as she embraced and encouraged a sobbing Desiree. It was a genuinely touching moment, and Tilly is a class act.
The human pin cushion elimination challenge saw Desiree and Scylla being pierced multiple times in their necks and knees. Ultimately, Scylla lost and was murdered by having her throat sliced.
The Boulet Brothers' Dragula Episode 3: Holiday of Horrors
For their fright feat in this episode, the queens had to each create a video for the Taimi dating app. While filming their flirtatious videos, each had to eat “Boulet Bon-Bons,” which may sound yummy…but not so much. Each bon-bon was comprised of pig brains and fish sauce. *Insert gag sound affect here.
I have to give Asia mad respect for this one, because she was the only one who didn’t gag and cry during her video. Every other contestant was having a hard time not vomiting. As the winner, Asia was granted use of the Mirror Mirror Curse, and she designated Grey Matter as the one who had to get ready using only a small compact mirror.
The floorshow challenge was Holiday of Horrors, and the queens had to create a demented look inspired by a holiday, making sure to incorporate filth as the main component.
Despite the Boulets warning that they did not want to see any more duplicate looks, Aurora and Pie both chose Baby New Year, and Vivvi and Majesty picked the Fourth of July as their holidays. While the Boulets expressed their displeasure, they did decide that the interpretations were different enough that they would allow it. Desiree chose Thanksgiving, and her look was…well, it was a choice. For some reason, she chose to use a raw chicken in lieu of turkey, and the look was very monochromatic.
While getting ready, Asia and Pi had another conversation, and cleared the air. Majesty had a break down about the personal problems they had recently experienced.
Before the floorshow, the Boulets appeared in fabulous orange feather dresses to introduce the judges, Tananarive Due and Tatiana Maslany. Grey Matter, Asia and Vivvi received the highest marks, and Yuri, Aurora and Desiree were the in the bottom three. Aurora was designated safe, which meant that Yuri and Desiree had to face the elimination challenge, sky diving at 10,000 feet.
While in the cauldron, Yuri became emotional, and Desiree suddenly had what amounted to a temper tantrum, even throwing her gross chicken at Yuri. At that moment, I knew she would be eliminated unless Yuri refused to complete the challenge.
Both of them did follow through, but as I predicted, Desiree was the one who was terminated.
