"Do you remember what happened? The night of Revival Day?" The opening quote for the official Revival trailer, a new Syfy series premiering this June based on the best-selling Image Comics series from Mike Norton and Tim Seeley.
This scripted series takes place in a rural Wisconsin town where one day, recently deceased people start rising from their graves. However, unlike your traditional zombie story, the formerly dead aren't predatory or monstrous, they act just like they did before their deaths. Single mother and police officier Dana Cypress is suddenly thrust into a murder mystery where everyone in town, alive and the undead, becomes a suspect.

Based on the trailer, it looks almost like this show will be similar to the French series The Returned. The beginning of the trailer paints a frightening picture, police officers watching in shock as a bunch of people rise out of their graves. And then you can't help but think about how they're getting out of their graves. Are a bunch of people about to wake up trapped in coffins?
Additional scenes in the trailer show Dana with her younger sister, who appears to be one of the "revivers," someone who was once dead and has no returned. These beings have a ceulluar structure that can regenerate. Even though the revival has allowed people to come back and get a second chance, there's clearly something not quite right with those who have returned. And the murder mystery becomes complicated when the victim returns to life. How do you solve a crime like that?
Revival stars Wynonna Earp's Melanie Scrofano, Romy Weltman, Andy McQueen, and David James Elliott. It was created by Aaron B. Koontz and Luke Boyce, who also executive produce and serve as showrunners.
The first episode will premiere on Thursday, June 12, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Syfy, followed by episodes becoming available on Peacock to stream one week after airing.
