Shudder is on a mission to keep us chillin’ in the summer heat, and their June schedule is packed with plenty of horror to accomplish that goal. Fresh originals and exclusives, brand-new series, plenty of vampire tales and old favorites are included for those of us who love our horror year-round.
June 1:
Dead Silence – Jamie (Ryan Kwanten of True Blood) returns to his hometown of Ravens Fair after his wife is killed. Hoping to get to the bottom of her mysterious death, he discovers the legend of ventriloquist Mary Shaw.
Homebound – Newlyweds Holly and Richard make a trip to a countryside mansion, where Holly will meet his children for the first time. When they arrive, Richard’s ex-wife is nowhere to be found, and the kids are acting kind of weird.
The Loved Ones – If you have never seen this darkly comedic Australian horror movie, now is your chance. Teen Lola asks her crush Brent to the school dance, but he politely declines (he does have a girlfriend). Lola doesn’t take kindly to being turned down, and she and her father abduct Brent, bringing him home and torturing him.
Curse of the Devil – “A man whose ancestors executed a witch is turned into a werewolf by modern-day descendants of the executed witch.”
Head Trauma – George has been wandering for 20 years, and decides to return to his hometown in the hopes of finally settling down. After moving into his late grandmother’s home, he suffers a head injury which triggers nightmares about his past.
Dark Windows – As many characters in horror movies do, a group of teens travels to stay at an isolated countryside home. Of course, what they hope will be a fun peaceful trip is disrupted by a masked murderer who sets out to kill them all.

The Ward – Directed by the great John Carpenter, this film stars Amber Heard as Kristen, a young woman who is taken to North Bend Psychiatric Hospital after setting fire to an abandoned building. Kristen almost immediately begins to see the ghost of a former patient named Alice, who is haunting the other girls in the ward.
Ladyworld – Finding themselves trapped after experiencing an earthquake, eight teenage girls start to go a little nuts when their food and water runs out. Ladyworld is a female-centric take on Lord of the Flies (which is a similar story with all males).
We Kill for Love – This documentary takes a close look at the erotic thrillers that were popular on cable in the 1980s and 1990s. As most film-based docs do, this one relies a lot on interviews with cast and crew members of the films that are discussed.
Insidious – Shortly after the Lamberts move into their new home, their son Dalton falls from a ladder and hits his head. A day later, he is in a coma, and his parents bring him home three months later, still comatose. When some terrifying incidents begin happening, the Lamberts move into a new place, only to find that the supernatural activity continues.
June 9:
Alien Outpost – “A documentary crew follows an elite unit of soldiers in the wake of an alien invasion.”
Sputnik – After cosmonaut Kostantin is the lone survivor of a spaceship crash, he is transported to a research facility where it is discovered that his body is housing a dangerous alien creature.
Lips of Blood – After Frederick sees a picture of a castle at the seaside, his childhood memories are triggered, and he goes in search of the place. Once there, he is tricked into freeing female vampires.
Fascination – “A young man becomes suspicious when his recently widowed mother decides to re-marry soon after his stepfather’s death.”
The Grapes of Death – A Village’s annual Grape Harvest Festival goes horribly wrong when those who drink the wine become zombie-like creatures.
Requiem for a Vampire – A pair of girls in France become lost in the countryside, and think they are safe when they come upon a chateau. But they are definitely not safe, since the place is inhabited by a vampire and its servants.
Shiver of the Vampires – Will people never learn to stay away from abodes in the middle of nowhere? In this film, a couple on their honeymoon decide to spend the night in a castle. But guess what happens? Yup, the place is overrun with vampires.
The Living Dead Girl – When drums filled with chemical waste are placed in the catacombs of an empty chateau (again), they re-animate a beautiful wealthy woman who perished long before her time.
The Nude Vampire – “A young man falls in love with a beautiful woman being chased by sinister masked figures at night. He tries to track her down, and learns she’s being held captive by his father and colleagues who believe she’s a vampire.”
June 13:
Best Wishes to All (Shudder Original) – In this Japanese horror film, a nursing student leaves Tokyo to return to her grandparents’ home in the country. She is frightened when she begins to hear strange noises, and observes her grandparents acting very strangely.
June 16:
Rats! – After Raphael is put in jail due to his penchant for posting graffiti, he becomes embroiled in events including drug deals, suicide, a sting operation and general chaos.

June 17:
Hell Motel (Shudder Original series) -In this original anthology series, true crime fans are invited to the opening of the Cold River Motel, originally the site of a mass murder. Trapped in the motel, the guests begin to drop like flies.
June 20:
Ash (Shudder Exclusive) – When Riya wakes up on an unknown planet, she finds out that her fellow crew members have been killed. Brion shows up to rescue her, but the two are subjected to frightening events as they try to decide whether of not they trust each other.
June 22:
The Strain (seasons 1 – 4) – In this series, Dr. Goodweather is the head of the Canary Project. He and his team are tasked with investigating an incident where an airplane landed with everyone aboard dead. The virus that caused their deaths seems to tie in with vampires.
