It has been more than three years since Netflix first released its extremely successful Korean Original series Squid Game, a show that would go on to dominate the charts and become the streamer's most-watched non-English language show of all time. Now we're exactly one month away from a brand new season, with a new trailer previewing what to expect.

Squid Game season 2 sees the return of Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) in his battle to put a permanent end to the games. But the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) isn't going to make it easy for him. Can he really survive another round of games? As shown in the trailer, it looks like Gi-hun is going to try and warn some of the other players about what's in store, but not everyone is likely to listen to him. There will be new alliances and rivalries formed as the latest group of contestants compete for the massive cash prize.

It's hard to tell what new games we might see this season but the trailer provides us with clips showing peeks at old favorites, like Red Light, Green Light, and at least one scene that appears to be taking place in the Dalgona cookie challenge room.

The second season will drop the day after Christmas this year, December 26, with the fifth and final season planned for a season 3 release, meaning we won't have to wait too long to watch the final chapter this time.

Squid Game became so popular for Netflix that the series has solidified itself as one of the biggest TV shows ever, and has even spawned a spinoff in Squid Game: The Challenge, an Emmy-nominated reality show that also flew to the top of Netflix's charts.

In real life, fans of the show can visit the touring Squid Game: The Experience, which allows visitors to play games directly inspired by the series.

Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo will reprise their roles from season 1 and they are joined by several newcomers like Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an.
