Sydney Sweeney is best known for her starring roles in series like Euphoria and The White Lotus, but the talented actress has become quite the movie star as of late. Notably, she starred in one of two significant nun horror movies, Immaculate, and she's also set to star in the upcoming thriller The Housemaid along with an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's The Masque of Red Death for A24. But her next project to be released is Echo Valley, an upcoming Apple TV+ thriller co-starring Julianne Moore and Domhnall Gleeson.

The film comes from BAFTA-winning director Michael Pearce and an original script by Brad Ingelsby, whose previous credits include the acclaimed HBO series Mare of Easttown. Ridley Scott produced the movie through his production banner Scott Free Productions.

Watch the official trailer shared by Apple below, and then we'll dig into the highlights.

How far will this mother go to protect her daughter's darkest secret?

The beginning of this tense and ominous trailer immediately plunges us into the central conflict at the heart of Echo Valley. Sweeney's character, Claire, visits her mother Kate (Moore) in the middle of the night, covered in blood and pleading for help. She reveals that she and her boyfriend had been arguing when something happened that led Claire to hitting him with a rock and presumably killing him.

Obviously, the movie is a mystery/thriller, so the trailer is probably misleading in many ways, but it sets up a story where a mother must go to extreme lengths to protect her daughter. Possibly covering up a murder in the process. Gleeson's character seems to be a detective or family friend intent on discovering what Kate is hiding.

Echo Valley looks like the perfect movie for anyone who enjoys a slick thriller film or binge-watching the latest mystery series on streaming, a.k.a. me and millions of others out there. I wouldn't be surprised if this movie comes for The Gorge's record as the top most-watched Apple TV+ Original film.

Echo Valley premieres globally on Apple TV+ on June 13.
