Terrifier 3's most disturbing scene isn't even its goriest

The third film in the franchise isn't as gory as its predecessors but that doesn't mean it's not twisted.

Christmas came early this year in the form of Terrifier 3, the third installment of Damien Leone's twisted slasher series that's gained a cult following over the years. The films have increased in quality with each entry — though the filmmaker has not sacrificed any horror, both through violence and psychological torment. Following a sadistic serial killer named Art the Clown, the Terrifier movies explore his many, many killings as he targets young people like Sienna Shaw and her brother Jonathan Shaw.

In Terrifier 3, Art is resurrected after being decapitated by Sienna in the second film, and he's unsurprisingly out for blood. With a movie like this, we can expect a ton of blood, gore, and disturbing images as the franchise does not shy away from showing every little detail of Art's torture, killings, and mutilation. But the third movie doesn't have as many long, drawn-out acts of violence — at least not compared to the others. Instead, its most twisted scene is a bit more psychological.

WARNING: Spoilers for Terrifier 3 are below.

Terrifier 3 reaches new levels of disturbing with Art x Victoria romance

In the post-credits scene of Terrifer 2, the character Victoria Heyes returns. Remember, she is Art's victim in the first film, and not only does he kill her — but he also bites her face off. She serves as a villain in the third movie, as she gives birth to Art's head and is able to bring him back to life, and it's apparent she's in love with him. Now that they're teamed up, they shack up in an abandoned house, but Victoria can't bear the new reality of her appearance. She ends up killing herself. Over time, the two fall into some sort of sleep, but they're awoken when two construction workers come to the house.

The town plans to tear down the abandoned house and sends two workers to go by to make sure no one is inside. Upon entering the home, they're alarmed by an awful smell and proceed to take a look around. One of the men sees Victoria, seemingly dead in the bathtub, but she suddenly wakes up and stabs him in the neck, killing him. As for the other worker, he heads up to the attic and finds Art, who also wakes up and begins to attack him. But it's not as quick of a kill with Art.

Victoria comes up to the attic and watches as Art not only kills the worker but cuts off his face and scalp. While this is happening, Victoria takes her knife and begins masturbating with it, resulting in her gushing blood on the floor. As Art finishes his kill, Victoria appears to climax, and Art playfully scolds her for being bad. Art's response makes the scene humorous in the end, but boy, that's a weird one! Getting off to someone killing and mutilating another person is not exactly easy to watch.

Though Victoria isn't present for all of Art's kills after this, she does show up again in the end at Sienna's aunt and uncle's house. Their romance seems pretty one-sided — Art is a sociopath and seemingly incapable of feeling love — but I'm sure Art appreciates the help, even if their relationship is completely unconventional.

Terrifier 3 is now playing in theaters.
